Reporter Laura Loomer said she was trying to ask Waters about her controversial call for Democrats to harass Trump administration officials and other political opponents when the congresswoman swatted the cell phone she held in her hand to film the interaction.

Quote:The video showed that Loomer stayed on Waters’ heels as she walked from her office to the elevator, and asked questions about the meaning behind her controversial suggestions.

“You just encouraged your supporters to harass Trump supporters and officials, I just wanted to ask you – where are Trump supporters allowed to go?” Loomer asked.

Waters refused to even listen to the questions, and talked over the reporter, repeating “please come to my office” over and over again as she sped toward the elevator designated for Members of Congress.

As they approached the elevators, Waters appeared to use the papers in her hand to block the camera, the video showed. Then she swatted the reporter with the papers.

Quote:The elevators doors opened, and as Waters stepped through the doorway, the video showed she turned and firmly swatted the reporter again with the papers in her hand, before her staff members closed ranks around her and informed the reporter it was a “Members’ Only” elevator, over and over again.

Loomer said she went down to the Capitol Police Department right away and filed a police report against Waters for assault.

Quote:“When I was confronting the congresswoman, she assaulted me three times,” she said in the video. “The first time she swatted my hand with her hand to attempt to knock my phone out of my hand when I was recording her. And I said please do not hit my hand.”

“Then when I was confronting her and I kept on questioning her, the congresswoman then hit me in the face with her papers two separate times,” Loomer continued.

“And it was all caught on camera! And I came down here to the Capitol police station, I showed the officers and I filed a report,” she explained in the video.

Looks as if she got a dose of what she's encouraging people to do to Trump's people and didn't like it.

This is so stupid...... While I find it beyond ironic that she could not take what she was dishing out, "assault" is a bit strong and just feeds into the whole PC world that has been allowed to prosper. There are very few adjectives that you can use these days that does not "offend" someone. Even the phrase "black and white" pisses people off.....

Good for the reporter for dogging this A-hole and giving her a dose of her own medicine, but "assault".... puh-lease

That's what reporters do all the time. She must be getting pushback privately from other Democrats.

Someone is looking to make a name for herself it seems. Although I find there to be a certain amount of poetic justice in Waters being harassed like that I also have a certain amount of sympathy for her here. She repeatedly asked that the reporter come to her office to sit down rather than conducting an interview on the run. While Waters did indeed call for people to act the same way towards administration members I'm not sure the reporter should have handled herself that way. And assault? Come on...

It's clearly assault. I don't agree with the reporter for filing the charges, but any of you, in anger, simply lay your hand on someone with whom you're having such a discussion and you can be charged.

It's that same BS assualt charge that gets filed when somebody knocks a reporter's camera out of his hand or pushes them over trying to walk past. It's weak, but I don't have a problem with the reporter filing charges against the very woman who encouraged people to harass and all but assault Trump cabinet members and their families.

As long as the rules are the same for everyone. If a Republican does the same thing to some prick like Acosta, it's all good.

Sometimes you have to play their stupid games to make them see their own stupidity. That is exactly what we have here. Any other person than Crazy Maxine Waters, I believe this does not happen.

She wants to highlight Waters hypocrisy. Assault charges were to garner publicity.

Its pretty extreme to call it assault. But I'm pretty sure the left would have had a field day if a conservative did that to a liberal reporter.
