On that 3rd goal the entire Argentina back line just quit....which is only marginally worse than they played the rest of the game.

If Iceland win, they'll be at least 3 goals up in differential...literally nothing about how Argentina has looked makes me think they can score 4 goals in a game, so it's pretty much tied up if Iceland win IMO.

Exactly the result I wanted: #1 Croatia, #2 Iceland

At least 4 goals up. They are currently 3 goals behind Iceland.

While they can in theory make up 4 goals, it's going to require putting up at least 2 or 3 past Nigeria and then hoping Croatia chases the win despite the fact a draw wins the group.

No matter the result, Argentina must win on Tuesday to advance.

It's really shaping up almost exactly like Euro's One side of the knockout bracket is heavy with top teams, the other side is filled with surprises...and England. Which would open up the draw for the Lions, but also leave open the possibility that they crash terrifically again.

I posted that before the final tally, they're DOA now if Iceland win.

Sampaoli did not start Banega, Di Maria, Higuain, Dybala, and he left Icardi off the squad. Caballerro made a mistake for the ages. I'm a big fan of Argentina and today was really bad and what made it worse was some of the patrons calling the Argentine players Spics at a soccer bar in Cincinnati. It was 4 guys and 2 of them were English. I have witnessed and experienced way too many racial incidents over the years however it will not deter my love for the beautiful game.

As a general rule, the average Englishman under the age of 50 is an idiot and a cretin. There are exceptions of course but yea.

As far as Sampaoli, I dont understand putting 300 year old Mascherano in to protect a backline of little to no quality from Modric, Mandzukic, and Rakitic. He was never going to have the legs to do that.

Even though they haven't looked great, I'm sticking with France for my pick to win it, but I'll be rooting for Croatia. Happy to see Lovren playing well and having success, he always gets so much sh*t for his mistakes.

The Over 50 crowd over here aint much better. Thankfully for us though, not many of them like soccer...

Since my top two are now out, well might as well be out with Peru and Argentina I'm going all in with Spain. I know most of the players and would like to see Iniesta win one more before retiring.

I've always liked Lovren. His problems at Liverpool always seemed system based(i.e., not a lot of protection in front of the back line) and then it got into his head.

1. Denmark
2. France(unfortunately, they play each other next)
3. England
4. Germany

After that, I like the Iceland story and I always root for Japan/South Korea.

Oh Iceland, you had your chances. Nigeria wins 2-0 to move into 2nd in the group.

Any of Nigeria, Iceland, or Argentina could now get out of the group on Tuesday.

Germany in trouble. Down 1-0 to Sweeden at half. Loss would eliminate them from the World Cup.

Yep, they are such try hards. It's one of the reasons I can't stand to watch the MLS.

Iceland (a country with a 337,780 population) made it, also. In contrast, a rich country with a 325.7 million diverse population struck out.
