They did lose a lot of their top players

They seem to do that every year. Since they have been in the American they have finished first twice, second once and third twice.

RE: Media Pre-Season AAC Predictions
I'll throw mine in:

Gonna be some groans, but...

(assuming health and eligibility of those expected to play)

1) UCF
2) Memphis
3) Houston
4) UConn
5) Cinci
6) Temple
7) Tulsa
8) SMU
9) Wichita State
10) Tulane
11) ECU
12) USF

I really think the top five is a free for all.

UConn was awful last year but they had a 5* guy out the whole season and return Jaylen Adams and add Aubrun xfer (and 16 ppg leading scorer) Mustapha Heron to go along with three other returning starters. Plus Hurley >>> Ollie.

UCF will (if healthy) return Fall and Taylor along with five other guys who had rotation minutes and add Dawkins and a 6-10 xfer to play some minutes at C when Fall is out.

Houston loses Gray and Devin Davis but returns Corey Davis, their PG (Robinson), Armoni Brooks, Fabian White, as well as adding two UMass transfers.

Cinci loses HUGE pieces in Kyle Washington, Jacob Evans, and AAC POY Gary Clark. They will have to rely on Cumberland, Justin Jennifer, and Cane Broome to pick up the slack.

Yes, it is hard to read with so many new faces. I figure we should improve quite a bit from the beginning of the season until the end. Martin should be healthier later and the frosh should develop. I still don't see UCF in the top 3 though. I think it will be Memphis, Cincy and UConn in the top 3 and Houston, UCF and Wichita State in the next 3.

I can't see a scenario where WSU will be top 6. The only two guys they have returning who averaged more than 50 minutes total last year were McDuffie at 8.5 ppg and Hayes-Jones at 5.3 ppg. Everything else is JUCO's, frosh, or mid-major xfers.

WSU’s results will be a good test of the relative importance of a great coach vs great talent.

I agree. Wichita St lost a lot, had 1 poached <chuckle chuckle> and is bringing in a WVU transfer and JuCos. BUT.....not too far fetched considering it would mean they simply have to beat some of the mid conference guys: Houston, UConn (how early will Hurley have UConn running his stuff well?), Cincy (similar situation), Temple, Tulsa, SMU. Not crazy. More I think about WSU, the less I feel sure about my thoughts. Difficult year to call it! Lot of moving parts.

The WVU xfer isn't eligible until 2019-20. Teddy Buckets. He'll be good.
