Chicago in line for a bowl game in 2020
To be played at Wrigley Field, with B1G and ACC the primary tie-ins. Also, Myrtle Beach is expected to get a bowl and the MAC is in the mix.

Quote:* The three new bowls? Chicago and Myrtle Beach are near locks to host two of the new bowl games.

The Chicago bowl, to be played at Wrigley Field, will feature the Big Ten against the ACC, sources said. To add the Chicago bowl in 2020, the Big Ten is expected to end its affiliation with the San Francisco Bowl (formerly Foster Farms Bowl) after 2019.

NIU would not want to go to the Chicago bowl anyways. Too close and cold.

But there is a beach in Chicago, unlike last year's bowl in Detroit.

If somehow NIU vs Northwestern happened at Wrigley, it would be a well attended game. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Better than the Grate vs Toledo.

Might as well give it a try.

Excellent, I'm sure FSU and Miami would be eager to play an outdoor game in Chicago in December.

Wrigleyville would be an awesome game-day neighborhood. Guessing the Chicago winter would make the game pretty unbearable.

Illinois and NW played at Wrigley in 2010 and they had to switch sides of the field every possession because there was only room for one end zone or something. I thought that was the end of Wrigley football. Too bad there's no dome like STL or Indy.

As part of the Wrigley renovations, they've made it able to actually handle a full football field so that won't happen again. I believe they could fit both end zones last time, but there wasn't enough room directly outside one of the end zones for them to feel comfortable playing both ways (really, really dumb on their part).

All depends on the weather, if you get the sometimes mild'ish Chicago weather, could be nice. If it's more like Jan-Feb weather (or heck, even April weather) it will be miserable.

I was at the NW/Illini game. Weird as the field set up was, watching football at Wrigley was a lot of fun. Leshoure was a beast that day for the Illini--had something like 30 carries for 330 yards. Apparently NW will be playing there against Wisconsin in 2020. NIU would have been a great matchup instead. Too bad.

Needs to be a game after the baseball season is over (So November/Conference Play), so most likely we will not see that (at least to play NW). Same reason for NIU at US Cell.

This is a game I would definitely watch, especially with teams from the South. Nothing like playing a game in winter in Chicago with gale winds howling off the lake and temps in the teens. And I'll watch sitting in my warm living room in my underwear while sipping on a beer (or maybe even wine since the game will be played in Wrigley). Gotta love it!

My suggestion would be to share our bowl experiences with our neighbors to the north. How about a nice outdoor bowl game in December/January in Edmonton or Calgary?

They're smart enough to play the Grey Cup no later than the last week of November and begin the season middle of June.

Cause what the world needs now is another bowl game (well, in addition to another folk singer)
Like I need a hole in my head.

How about the Arctic Bowl in Barrow, Alaska — Alaska’s northernmost point?

The game could be played on XMas Eve so Santa and his reindeer and elves could stop at the game first before going around the world.

Hopefully the game wouldn’t be in for a surprise tsunami.

I like the suggestions of Regina and Barrow for the "Ice Bowl" or "Arctic Bowl". Just as long as they have a beach for the players to pamper themselves.
