ECU is just starting theirs now.
While our stadium is outdated, we continue to put our money in improving our player experience, which will increase our level of recruiting. Increase recruiting --> increase winning --> more fans in seats (most of the time) --> need for a better stadium.

Here's the thing. ECU is all Greenville has. If you live in Greenville, you're probably from there or are there because of ECU. Nobody says "hey, Greenville is a great place to relocate, let's move there. On the other hand, Wilmington is filled with people who moved here with no thought about UNCW. They are either fans of other schools, or don't have much or little interest in UNCW. Although a lot of our graduates remain in Wilmington, a lot move to Raleigh or Charlotte which are a decent distance from UNCW. So, we'll probably never have the fan support they have in general.
We are going to have to create an ëxperience at all sporting events to attract the casual fan or non-fan just looking for something to do.

110% agree. Greenville is the true definition of a college town; you take ECU out of Greenville, the town collapses. You take UNCW out of Wilmington, the city does just fine.
It’s also a cultural thing: students and then later alum at ECU are more into athletics. This isn’t true at UNCW, there needs to be a movement to change the culture somehow. Winning helps a lot with that, but there are plenty of examples of winning programs that don’t get a lot of fans.

Austin Warren taken in the 6th round and Cota in the 10th round. I've only seen 1 ECU person taken and just a few UNC guys. State is the only area team with as many as UNCW thus far. A FREAKING 4 seed...what a joke that was!

Clark Cota went in the 10th round (# 293) to the A's! Same spot where Chris Hatcher currently is as the setup man. Maybe they'll end up in the same bullpen together?

Also, Blake Deatherage's brother Brock at NC State went in the 10th (# 285) to the Tigers.

4 UNCW guys in the first 10 rounds, along with one committed HS Senior. Safe to say this has been the best draft we've had in school history.

A lot of that is true. A lot of the cultural change has come from winning (Football/Baseball). On top of that Greenville is a baseball town at the youth level. We don't have that in hoops yet for our branding, still to many Duke and UNC fans in the mix, at some point we have to give them something to cheer about.

A 4 seed was a joke, most of our high draft picks are Sophs.

It's all connected. What else is there to do in Greenville besides attend sporting events if you're a student? That becomes their college experience and it ties them together when they graduate.

Well the beach isn't that far and plenty of people know people with beach places if they don't have one themselves.
I can't speak to Greenville vs Wilmington now for college kids. But in the 90s/early 00s there was a lot more to in Greenville for 18-25 than Wilmington. Sports are only part of the equation, it's a much bigger student body, that's going to lead to more options. I lived in Wilmington briefly, I would move back, but it felt like a dispersed scene. ECU is altogether. What do college kids really do other than party, play pickup hoops, and hangout anyway?

While I am n=1, I find this to be true as a current student. The only additional thing Wilmington has to offer than anywhere else is the beach; college kids do the same things just about everywhere.

The beach is a big draw, that’s a huge reason why my wife went there. I’d move back to Wilmington in a second but I wouldn’t move to Greenville if my company offered to pay me triple my salary
