I'll give a plus 3 in reputation to any E.C.U. fan that can confirm whether or not this is indeed the longest continually running realignment thread on the internet.
Crazy to go back and read the first few pages. People were talking (correctly as it turned out) about how Chris Leak was the future for UF

I can come up with 2:
1. ECU wouldn't have a huge exit fee to overcome
2. ECU would probably agree to some ridiculous, half revenue share for the first ten years, agreement
Valid points - anything other than immediate economic reasons? Long-term value over NC/NCSU/DUKE/WAKE? Short-term and long-term competitiveness in football, basketball, or third-sports? Seriously asking.
I'm not going to pretend that anyone would be added for non-economic reasons. That said, we're already competitive against the in-state football teams (won last 2 against Chapel Hill and last 3 against NC State), with half the athletic budget of those teams. With a half-SEC share of revenue, and the recruits that come with membership, we would consistently be the best (and likely most watched) team in the state within 5 years.
Thank you but that wasn’t exactly what I said. Maybe I wasn’t clear - the immediate economic reasons (no huge edit fee and willingness to take a small share for a few years) can’t be all. I also said long-term value which I intended to mean was how will ECU bring value to the SEC that would make them worth the add? Sincere question
Baseball would be an immediate threat and our attendance already best in state would skyrocket, we would be competitive right out the gate. Football is already strongly supported especially considering the ACC schools in comparison and it would grow IMO quickly, the culture around football is already there.
But, the immediate impact is Baseball, ask Ole Miss fans about our HC Cliff Godwin and LSU and Vandy, he had stints at each. And right now Tanked, Tourchamps 3 regional in 4 years and will host, could be a national seed. 43-16 RPI 12 SOS 25, NON-Cof SOS 6. South Carolina fans also know all to well ECU’s ability in baseball and that’s while being in the Colonial, C-USA, and AAC.

I feel like we have a decent shot, especially with the UNC-CH suspensions.
On a side note, I'm selling two of my extra tickets to that game on Stubhub right now. If the buyer's address is Chapel Hill, should I throw an old pair of jordans in mail when I ship them?

RE: ECU and the SEC
Yeah can we at least join as a baseball-only member? Our league stinks. I have a feeling we're about to be snubbed for a national seed with 50 wins.

I traveled through Greenville, NC three weeks ago. I saw the stadium from the road. It's looking nice externally.

Not quite. Still putting the finishing touches on for the next month or so. Only about 51,000 capacity but that's perfect for our program right now.
