It is worth mentioning that Marshall's random turmoil year was two years ago. I don't see how that game is close to a toss up this year. Out of all of our conference games, FAU will probably be the most difficult followed closely by Marshall. Possibly flip.

I agree. I actually think they both have a slim chance at the Access bowl.

There was no turmoil in Huntington last year. Marshall went 8-5 last year with a bowl win over Colorado State. Our down year was 2016, 2 years ago and can be attributed to 3 players who brought the whole team down. Those 3 where Michael Clark WR, Deontay McManus WR and Kendall Gant Safety. None of which were on campus to start the 2017 season.

Chase Litton may be gone but our eventual game day starter most likely isn't even on campus yet in transfer Alex Thomson, Thomson is 6'5 230 pounds with a rifle for an arm. Then there is RS Freshman Isaiah Green 6'2 214 pounds who has looked good this spring.

Then you have at WR Tyre Brady, Willie Johnson, Marcel Williams, Nick Matthews with new comers Jaquan Webb who just won the Mississippi state track titles in the 6A 100m, 110m, 200m and 4x200 relays (The kid is fast), Corey Gammage, Tarlik Keaton, Artie Henry III, Jordan Wayne-Prather, Caleb McMillian and Tyquavious Terrell. With a backfield of Tyler King, Keion Davis, Anthony Anderson and Branden Knox.

You will probably see the best OL in the G5 and I would venture to say one of the best in the entire country. Last year they gave up a total of 8 sacks the whole year and out of those 8, 5 happened in the 1st 4 games.

To beat Marshall this year ODU is going to have to beat their speed and I don't think you will have the defense to do that, not this year anyway.

Two years ago you had chaos, not just turmoil

IMHO, last years personnel was better than 8-5, best in CUSA in fact. so I concluded residual turmoil.

04-cheers

Any team that has to replace both coordinators and starting QB is going to have some question marks. Talent wise, they should be up there this year. With the questionable characters they attract, you never know when a year like 2 years ago will occur though.

Liberty was 6-5 in FCS and 2-3 in the Big South last year and we are debating who will win? Are we that bad?

ODU Football Opponent Preview: Liberty
It bothers me a lot that there is even a question regarding this game.
Very concerning that this team may not be that good.

They are paying us a $1M to go to their place a kick their A$$

If that does not happen it will
Be a very long season.

Is ECU on a major rebound this year? Didn't they go like 3-9 the past three seasons? I have a hard time seeing this as an L.

Both teams should be better than last year. I am hoping our addition of scholarships and home advantage are the tie breaker. I plan to be there with my family and hope many of you guys make the drive!

I’d be willing to be that this is going to be a long season for this football team regardless of the outcome in this game, I don’t see how this team doesn’t finish in the bottom 20 percent of fbs

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. I hope I am wrong, but I think this year is going to be awful.

Awful? How? as in worse than last year's 5-7? How does this team not win at least 5 games? Not saying 5 wins is good, but it's not "awful" either. After the spring game I'd say we are 2 games better than last year, not worse.

If this coming season is awful, I hate to think about next year. This year we have a lot of returning experience and a lot of seniors. Next year (2019) is the rebuilding year where we may take a step back unless Williams becomes an all-conference type QB (which is possible). I think we will be a 5 win team in 2018 but with a few breaks could see 6 or 7.

We should be a better team, but the competition is much better this year too. ECU, VT, FAU, Marshall, MT, WKU, FIU, NTX are all going to be tough. In the case of FAU and FIU they will be much tougher than last season. Beating FIU in the first home game will be a pretty good barometer of how the season will go. If we start off 0-2 we're sunk.

I think the expected losses are VT, FAU, Marsh, MT, and WKU. FIU and NTX will be difficult, but they are absolutely beatable. Expected wins should be LU, UNC-C, ECU, VMI, Rice.

Stadium is looking good and should be ready for our game. Looking for a sellout. Single game tickets go on sale in August.
