The win looked great, the uniforms looked great, and Coach Novak on the sidelines looked great. Ah, the good old days! Can we go back?

"80,000 people dead silent, you could hear a pin drop".
The SEC announcers quickly started talking about next weeks game. At least they were respectful. unlike the current clowns like Herbie.

Alabama wont have any issue scheduling NIU with Sabin at the helm.

The Nebraska deal from a money perspective looks very bad.

It's always been hard to believe that Nebraska wants to play us four times in seven years. I predict they opt out of the final two games because their fans will complain about playing the same MAC team so much. Ideally they'll give us a few hundred thousand to cancel and we can schedule higher paying games in their place.

I think we should take our 1-0 record vs Bama to the grave. It's got a great ring to it. Plenty of others to play haha

I was at that game and it was amazing, however I doubt Saban is scared of us...

Hope not. It would be a good rivalry and Frost will turn them around fast.

We're in the driver's seat on this one.

Start at $4M, settle for $3M, the game's in DeKalb and it has to be marketed as a "Rivalry Game" broadcast on ABC primetime with a 7pm CST start with those helmets that knock together with lots of sparks.

Ok fine, we can play it at Soldier Field. I'm not unrealistic about these things.

Lack of attendance is certainly a contributor to the financial mess, but the 30-40% drop in enrollment and state budget cuts are also significant factors. Add to that the digital age and general less interest in attending live sporting events across the country.

I met an NIU grad who recently started where I work, and he said he never went to a football game as a student. He said 1/2 of the undergrads are commuters and don’t live on campus. Couple that with out of state tuition being less expensive than in state at NIU, the next generation of fans is, sadly, going to be considerably smaller.

The group I have attended games with for the last 10-15 years is also losing interest as they get older, have families, move out of the $hithole state, etc. These people used to be season ticket holders, attend 2-3 road games, and now are lucky to come back for homecoming.

Absolutely! I agree with everything and every reason you have stated. No doubt there is less interest nationwide in attending sporting events. Technology has made people become lazy and complacent, and it is now so easy to watch anything you want on your phone or tablet. Again correct is the fact that many people lose interest in attending games as they get older, have more familial commitments, and get old. What is great to see, however, is all the old people at Huskie Stadium who can barely walk and need to be helped to their seats. That is dedication! I know that if I were in that shape, my big journey of the day would be from my house to a chair in my back yard. Kudos to them.

One does not need to be a math or econ major to figure out why T A&M gets almost 2 million and teams like The Citadel 500k.

You are NIU, you aren't in a position to bargain. Be very grateful you are getting 1.6 mil for a game that will have tickets for $35 I believe at the box office and for less than $10 on the secondary market.

Alabama ticket prices
Arkansas State $40
Texas A&M $110
Louisiana $55
Missouri $85
Mississippi State $85
Citadel $40
Auburn $140

The game is with the Utah State Aggies... Alabama doesn’t need to pay Texas A&M for games as they are in the same conference and already play regularly.
