Have not seen anything on the Bucs NFL site about Huff. Hope you are right as other than their pick of Jones they have no other decent RB. Hope Huff can block and catch then maybe he can make the roster.

Corey Thomas got another opportunity with the Bears. NIU Football Twitter confirmed Huff to the Bucs.

It’s just a tryout, they didn’t sign him. NIU Football posted it on their twitter though so I assume it’s legit

I did think he’d get a UDFA shot at the very least since he’s a former 1st team All American. Beebe isn’t much bigger and he is so I’m very surprised about Lurry.
On another note, Lurry said last month that he would have left and goto anther School just like JJ did had he had more eligibility. Wonder is this is going to be the new norm? If so, that sucks for the mid-majors

I was definitely one of those guys that anticipated him being drafted in the first 3 rounds. I still think he’ll sign with someone. His ball skills are awesome for the position. Had he had back to back all American seasons it would be a different story. Also if you’re kind of a character at a smaller school teams aren’t excited to draft you ie Jordan Huff. Huff cost himself a lot of money with his off field antics. Huff looked like the best running back in the MAC at times. He also outplayed San Diego States Rashad Penny in our last game, yet Penny went in the First Round.
I think the lurry comments are some of the behind the scenes issues. Hopefully this doesn't grow into a trend.

I remember when Shawun Lurry single handedly got Cardale Jones benched when we almost beat Ohio State. Whoever gives him a chance will be glad they got him.

I wouldn't make more of it than there is. I went to the Stories from the Sidelines event back in Feb. Walked in with Max Sharping who happened to park near me and my son. Asked him if he was looking forward to playing in the pros after this coming season, and he said there were NFL insiders encouraging him to come out this year. He simply added "But I wanted to come back." Every kid is different, every situation is different. On another note, there are a handful of DBs in the NFL same size as Lurry. It's not outside the realm of possibility he could play at the next level despite his size.

Regarding Lurry, I never thought he was a very good tackler. In fact he gave me the impression he did not want to tackle. He had very few solo tackles.

Lurry has two hurdles to clear to get on an NFL roster. First obviously is his height. But then there is his weight. His pro day weigh-in was 162lbs per draftscouts. I never thought Lurry had the build to put a lot of weight on. Maybe he can, who knows. But out of the 50 cb's listed in this years draft, no one was below 180lbs.

Spot on Pantone... While Lurry does have above average ball skills, his tackling is well below-average. He's a small and not physical CB who did NOT like to tackle. Whenever he was in the open field with a larger opponent, he gave a very poor tackling effort, usually a weak arm tackle attempt.
I'm not a pro scout or talent evaluator, but his tackling or lack of will be his downfall.

Good point. Which explains the season where he was often injured.... If you can’t get any bigger and stronger, no draft for you. He’s been at the same weight since he got here.

I’m cheering most for Beebe to make it. He was a great teammate but had some tough injuries. It helps to know somebody that knows somebody. If playing doesn’t work out we can use a coach in a couple years ala PJ Fleck.

I was a bit surprised Beebe got a shot. He's always been a fan favorite and it felt like he was at NIU for a decade. But he never accumulated much as far as stats. Shane Wimamn has more career receptions. Maybe it is a case of who you know(or are related to). It would be great if it worked out. Gutsy player. Punt returner/emergency wr.
I'm gonna follow Huff. I will never stop thinking that kid could be a beast.

I felt Beebe was a great route runner with exceptional speed. His stats suffered because of his multiple injuries, including concussions.

Yeah, the coaching staff underutilized him, and not his nagging injuries.
Same coaching staff who decided to play a QB with no passing game (Childers) vs. a QB who was clearly superior in the passing game (Santacaterina). Watching Childers was painful last year. We had no offense when Huff wasn't on the field.

He is indeed very injury prone and he got burned a lot last season. He seemed to be more interested in big plays than playing sound football.

Somebody sign this man....Tryout or something
As mentioned before his pro day measurements were 5'8" and 162 pounds. Too short to cover tall NFL receivers, and a total liability against the run. Might be able to return punts, but I don't think he was able to showcase those skills while he was with us.
