Yes, it was said right after the “heat of battle”.

Not to get off subject but I read the other day that Laycock currently has produced the most NFL coaches in the league right now. I think the number is 3 or 4 head NFL coaches.

While I'm not familiar with what Mayfield did, on the surface no, it is not the same thing. I don't know many people who haven't taken off on foot when the cops show up to a party in their younger age.

I lost a lot of respect for Laycock, after he made those comments.

I did an analysis, including video. If I remember correctly, only one of four PFs committed by ODU in that game was "physical". It was an incidental facemask near mid field. The video clearly showed the ODU player grabbing then releasing a face mask without even a twist. I even posted the time index.

Two were were for "jaw jacking", and one was a shove out of bounds.

Indeed Laycock lost a lot of respect after that tirade.

Thinking the same thing....

I also like how they gang tackle. We should get the NPD to due a tacking clinic for the team. It could be a great opportunity to get some good will between the team and local law enforcement.

Same here - although it instantly intensified the rivalry. I would love to schedule a football game with them now. Even if it was a blow out, I would stay until the final whistle and enjoy every second.

He is good at evading. Wonder if it is to late to convert him to TE?

Maybe, but it seems he has trouble getting away from defenders.

After a long chase. Sure he’d have time to get into the end zone.

So I guess there is one set of standards for coaches kids and another for everyone else. I would hate to have to explain that one. Kids from other programs have been let go without felony convictions next to their name.

At some point we're going to hear the whole story of what happened to keep him around. Most likely Minium will dig up something. At least I hope so.

Not that I am defending the decision, but THIS felony was a victimless crime.

ODU's Reputation for equity.
Coach Wilder's Rep and integrity
I think there are a few victims.

.... so if the felony resulted in someone getting hit and dying in the middle of the road.... that's where we draw the line.

Larry Pinkard "crime"< Wilder crime!
Larry Pinkard penalty> Wilder's penalty

Pinkard’s situation was different in that there were multiple infractions over time. DW just made one terrible decision.
