RE: Michael Hueitt Jr. to transfer from ODU
Sucks to actually finally land a high caliber recruit we went after hard, that gets fans excited about the future, then refuse to play him and have him transfer. I’d be pissed too if I was trying to be a part of the team and could contribute but the coach refuses to put me in the game in a rout. I wish JJ would transfer.

RE: Michael Hueitt Jr. to transfer from ODU
A guy who sits near me in the TED said his son or nephew (can't remember which) is on the same dorm hall as Hueitt. Say he's a bit of jerk with no work ethic, Also heard the same work ethic complaint in practice from someone who's been to some practices. Goodwin seems to have a willingness to learn so therefore he got into games.

I think it's a whole different atmosphere from our early days being fans of college basketball. And most of the bad can be directly traced back to the NCAA ridiculous transfer rules. Ask Donte Hill and McClinton how they feel about it.

No surprise and honestly good guards are a dime a dozen. I wish him all the best.

Can somebody spot Jeff a dime then? He certainly hasn't had a roster overflowing with good guards in his 5 years.

Was MHJ a three star recruit?

Just curious

Like I said when we got him having seen him play several times with CP3 he was going to struggle against stronger players. He was the perfect redshirt candidate.

Agreed. I think it is time for JJ to go too.

Freshman all over the country ride the pine. A lot of these kids don’t want to put in the work. That’s why there are soo many transfers. Go look at all the box scores from NCAA tournament games. Only 7 or 8, on a few teams 9, guys get good minutes on each team. Thats 4-6 scholarship players a year not being used on the court. People act like the coach should play 10 or 11 guys regularly. That’s not realistic. These kids are getting softer. No surprise there. Lol

Agreed - he needs more size as a shooting guard and would have benefited from a redshirt year. It’s not all about offense - got to be able to prevent scoring as well.

I mostly agree, but when we're beating teams by 20+ with 5 minutes to go, I think its appropriate and helpful for the future to give the guys who don't play much some game experience.

So instead of playing in 13 games he plays in 17 games and hits 3 or 4 more threes. I still don’t see much difference. Doubt that changes anything. Look I’d like to see everyone play but the game is 40 minutes. At least 4 or 5 guys aren’t playing if you have a full roster. That’s how it is.

RE: Michael Hueitt Jr. to transfer from ODU
The hard reality is MHJ’s departure is a good move for him and does not have much of an impact to the program. He was going to compete next year with BJ, X, and Godwin for minutes at shooting guard (and Caver if he can get the opportunity to play off the ball w/Kithcart/Wade taking point for short spells). So MHJ was probably only going to get a few minutes per game next year (if any). His decision makes sense.

RE: Michael Hueitt Jr. to transfer from ODU
We only went 7-8 deep virtually all season long. There absolutely were multiple opportunities for JJ to make use of his bench in more than just the final minute of an already decided game.

He chose not to do so. That's his right as a coach.

Just as it's my right as a fan to think that he compromised our chances, not only this season but now also next season, as a consequence.

Clearly, we need two new bigs that can start next year. If JJ doesn’t / can’t bring in the bigs we need - then it will be the beginning of his end.

Let me dig up my “get ready for it” post from a few months ago. This isn’t new.

True for most teams but certainly not all teams that made the NCAA Tournament. Florida State had 10 players that averaged double figure minutes per game this season.

The "beginning of his end" has already taken place ......

As in no conference regular season championships ......

As in no conference tournament championships ......

As in no NCAA tournament appearances with ODU.

That’s one team. I didn’t say it was impossible to go 10 deep. Most teams in the tourney went about 7 or 8 deep, however.
