Eugene German....NBA??
Not sure anyone else saw this on twitter but German is planning to test the waters with the NBA this offseason. Obviously he won't be drafted this year but this definitely shows what his true intentions are.
Hopefully he works super hard this offseason and comes back even better than he already is!

Interesting...... it’s only going to make him better competing with soon to be draft picks. I would not be mad at him if he goes pro especially if he grades out well. Most of the prospects are 19 and 20 years old.

Maybe it's a chance to have the scouts tell him what he needs to work on.

NBA scouts would tell him that he needs to distribute the ball more and he needs to make NIU a winner. They also would tell him to work on his jump shot and keeping people in front of him when he’s on defense. Hopefully it would make him a better team player next year for NIU. Right now, German thinks scoring will get him to the NBA. While he doesn’t have a great chance any opportunity he has will be increased if he can make NIU a winner.

NBA scouts will tell him to grow 6 inches or more. The days of Spud Webb are long gone.

He's a selfish player. Dekalb 222 is absolutely correct in his assessment of German.

Of course I have heard of Chris Paul. He has a NBA average of 9.8 assists a game. What position is German going to play? Point guard with a history of poor assist to turnover ratio and no defense. His assist to turnover ratio was around .75 last year. How about shooting guard with a 47% college average or 33% 3 point average that does not guard anybody?

For his own sake hopefully he doesn’t declare for the draft. Far too often guys leave early to not be drafted/drafted really late and never become anything in the NBA.

He did declare for the draft. Without an agent, college athletes are able to declare and come back whether they are/aren't picked.

X was a class act as he played and finished his collegiate career here.
I don't ever recall seeing him exhibit a "negative or me first" attitude.

If he stands out, he gets to live out his dream. If he doesn’t it will make him a better Huskie for next season. It’s a win win situation for him, and a win for us if he comes back more hungry....

I guess it puts me in the minority but I don’t see how coming back to school after dipping his toe in the process will make him any better, or hungrier as some have suggested. The general positivity that surrounds this terrible basketball program for anything that happens perplexes me.

If his goal is the NBA and he doesn’t make it this time around, he has another 2 years to prove himself. He’ll get better either way from competing against better competition.

Or maybe he sees he’s nowhere near the NBA level (which is currently true) and it shatters his confidence.

Confidence is not a issue or problem for German. Geno averaged 25pts vs Marquette, Iowa and Iowa St. He can play with the best in the nation! He will be told to be a better leader make NIU a winner and to get in the lane and distribute the ball. He will be a better Huskie next year possibly pre-season MAC player of the year.
