I believe so. But that bridge was old and decrepit IIRC.
Yup, I-35W Mississippi River bridge.

I drove over the bridge coming back from the cabin on Sunday, it collapsed on the next Wednesday at 6pm. That Wednesday was my sporting clay league and my wife was not able to get a hold of me until later in the evening. Pretty harrowing for her watching all this happen and not being able to get a hold of me.
I know one of the women who was on the bridge when it collapsed, she lived down the street from me. She used her rather substantial settlement to open an art cooperative that gave kids from the local schools a safe location to hang after school if they couldn't go directly home, among other things.
I used to volunteer for her at her space when it was getting set up, but, to me at least, she took it way too far left for my liking. Or maybe more fair to say, the artists at the coop took it too far left.
Good idea, good execution to get it started and I am still proud I was part of that, but we parted amicably when she and the artists wanted to become activist in all local issues de jour.
That's OK, honestly. Good people can disagree.
