What are the "Penny Hardaways" of the world? Do you know something about him that requires a slur?

He's black is what I am thinking.

I took it to mean he thinks he's shady. Who really knows or cares for that matter. Dont go down that rabbit hole please. Warranted or not, it'd be nice if at least one thread didn't get derailed. I know I'm probably asking too much though.

ETA: too late, thought I was in the other thread -lol

Exactly why I got out of this one. It seems every thread on the subject is going down the same hole for awhile. Too bad we can't discuss these things, rather than just toss elementary school fireball insults back and forth.

If Louisville is Kentucky's little brother, Memphis would be the cousin that never showers and isn't 100% sure which relative "dad" is.

I think that's a fair assessment of a lot of our message board fans, but not our overall fan base. Most of the fans who are nervous about this are just quiet.

The loud ones are those who are happy with this.

Almost everybody thought Tubby should go, or at best get one more year. But Penny is a split decision, so I would say maybe half our fan base is Kentucky lite, lol, and the other half just wants us to be successful without having our rep smeared. The former half dominates our public message boards.

Hiring Penny shouldn't smear our rep. Having him or anybody cheat should, but that applies to any new coach. I'm ready for Tubby being gone. I'm optimistic that Penny can be a better coach and recruiter than most of you think.

I am concerned that things could go wrong, but hey, I'm not a decision maker, so I just have to buck up and pull for my new coach, and hope things go well.

Suits me. Assuming he didn't just sign financial aid papers and not really the NLI. Both are usually announced the same, whether they are, or not. I don't think any of us really know that, in any specific case. Lots of recruits do that now.

It isn't about getting him, it's that he doesn't want to go to WSU any longer now that the king will be taking over here shortly. The greater point is, expect this to be a common experience. We will get who we want more times than not, which hasn't been the case these last few years. Kids want to come to Memphis again in an instant.

He was set up to fail. They didn't even know his name when they introduced him at the initial press conference. Everyone knows Penny, he will be given the full support of the administration and the city. Big difference.

You guys are hilarious. You act like you’re blue bloods or something. For effs sake just in this conference you are clear b****es to UC and UCONN. Your prior conference was the MVC on a 5 Hour Energy shot, if even that.

If speaking the truth leads you to believe that, then so be it. Not my fault you can't accept reality. We will soon be back to being a top 25 program (of all-time I may add). I know that thought is a bit scary, but it's going to be alright. You will still have a decent program as long as Marshall doesn't bolt. Good luck in the tournament.

You obviously did not read my post closely. Lots of recruits now sign only the FAA, and not the NLI, but the school always says the recruit signed the NLI. So the fact that Wichita announced he signed the NLI doesn't always guarantee that to be the case.

I'm not saying he didn't, only that the possibility exists. Time will tell. Either way, he seems to want out.

If he has in fact signed the actual NLI, and I was WSU admin, I wouldn't release him, either. And I think there might be an AAC rule against that, but I'm not sure.

Do you remember Baghdad Bob? The press officer for Saddam’s military regime?

That’s you Memphis fans telling us all about how Penny is somehow going to suddenly become a D1 basketball coach and commence kicking all of our a**es. The rest of us non-UM fans are the world’s media all sitting around looking at each other in a confused manner like “WTF did that fool just say?”

The fact that you think everyone in this conference and country are covering fear via our collective laughter is kinda like that dynamic. If there is any fear it’s a fear that the AAC needs UCONN and yes Memphis to be UCONN and Memphis again, and at least in the context of Memphis with this move it looks like that trend will be retarded another two or three years, at least.

But if you want to run with the whole “y’all are just jelly” shtick then by all means be my guest.
