It's unbelievable we have to fork out $1.3 million dollars thanks to extending his contract. I also wonder where this leaves our basketball search. I think this hire is really important to the future of our basketball program so I wonder who will be calling the shots.

I'm glad its only that much. If we would have fired him it would have been more. It does cause a problem for the basketball hire. By the time we find an AD most of the good candidates may be gone.

There ought to be a contingency in place to allow ECU to hire Dooley without a replacement AD already on the payroll.

Hopefully we have a plan in place like bringing Holland back as an interim to handle the coaching search and other duties while they find a replacement. As long as it isn't Shelley Binegar.

From everything I've read and heard, Dooley wants to be here. I don't think that the fact that we got rid of our TERRIBLE Athletic Director would deter him from taking the job. Fact is, as long as Dooley comes in and wins in Greenville, there isn't an AD in the world that would fire him.

This is where the Lebo resignation really helps, you're still ahead, but where could you be if only lol...

It's worth it to get him gone, you will be hiring a new bball coach and maybe a new football coach. The opportunity here is big no reason to risk it.

If Dooley is the guy I am sure he'll be patient for a new AD which I am sure will be a fairly quick process. His attraction to to ECU is personal which means he'll do his best to keep the door open. If they make a run in the NIT you won't be able to talk to him for a minute any ways, neither will anyone else.

You're on the clock but you have enough time.

Based on the timing, I'd imagine they have someone (even if it's an interim) lined up. If all is true, I don't think they'd let Compher make the hiring decision, and we're coming up on the time that it needs to be made.

I know he has already been mentioned, but you could do far worse than Jim Schaus. WSU owes much of its success in the last 20 years to that man.
