After Blair gives up a hard single to his first batter, he retired the next two to strand runners at 2B and 3B. Welcome! Keep it up!

Canadian 6-4 RHP Kristjan Storrie in to pitch for Lamar.

Chandler greets him with a single to right. Then steals second (councer throw dropped).

Cruz walks on five pitches!

Mound visit.

Sac bunt sets up Beaumont native Proctor with runners at 2nd and 3rd. And after taking a VERY close 0-2 pitch -- thankfully called a ball -- slaps a 2RBI single into right. WooHoo.

5-1, Rice ... Sarchet coming up.

Another in a long line of Lamar pitchers to face the top of the order...
Chandler with yet another 2-strike single. I'd bunt here, but that's just me.
Chandler steals 2B. No outs.
Cruz walked after falling behind 0-2. Nice AB. Runners on 1B and 2B, no outs. HAVE to bunt here, and with a good bunter at bat...
Comeaux gets the bunt down on his third try (with 2 strikes)! Runners on 2B and 3B, one out. MUST produce here with two of our best hitters due up. Have to put the ball in play here...
Proctor does it again-- 2-strike, 2-RBI single! 02-13-banana 02-13-banana One out.
Sarchet flied out to LF. Two outs.
Collins reached on E-4. Runners on the corners, two outs.
Frazier struck out for the 3rd time tonight.
If we could ever get Dom and Andrew back in this lineup....03-cloud9

Good guys take a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

After Sarchet flied out, Collins hit a bouncer to 2B -- booted!! "A very makeable play near the bag." Proctor advanced to third.

But Frazier wiffed to end the inning.

5-1, Rice ... heading to B7.

You're going to have that when you have a very hot top half of the lineup and an ice cold bottom half.

In the meantime, Lewis with a 1-2-3 seventh inning, with one strikeoutK.

Lamar continues its parade of one-inning pitchers; this time it appears to be a weekend starter...
Cox struck out.
Gneiting grounded out.
Chandler walked. Two outs.
Chandler steals 2B again!
Cruz walked, with Chandler taking 3B on passed ball. Two outs.
Chandler scores (and Cruz advances to 2B) on wild pitch. 02-13-banana Two outs.
Comeaux struck out swinging on a 9-pitch AB.

Good guys take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning.

RE: Rice Baseball at Lamar
T8: the soft-tossing righty fools Collins and Gneiting, but walks Chandler, who promptly steals 2nd.
A high ball 4 to Trie clanks off the catcher's glove; Chandler takes 3rd!

Comeaux wiffs two pitches then sees two balls in the dirt. The second one bounces away from the catcher, allowing Chandler to score and Trei to take 2nd. 6-1!! Three fouls, then a ball ... and a wiff. Bummer, but a good AB.

6-1, Rice ... heading to B8.

Lewis gives up a HR but I really like what I saw...he threw STRIKES...it's a crazy concept I realize but throwing STRIKES is important.

Not sure why we're pitching Jefferies, who will almost assuredly be our Saturday or Sunday starter. Let's close this out.
