RE: Conference awards (1st and 2nd team All-AAC)
I'll be betting that several of UH's guards have their 3PT% drop after Grey graduates. Despite Hinton and Jareau. Mark it down.

Jarreau should be good, but he's certainly no man-bun Bob. IMO Gresham is an over-rated tag-along and will spend a lot of time on the pine.

He has an offensive rating of 130, a top 10 in the country TO rate and is lights out from 3.
Gonna be a great addition to the starting lineup next year for Houston
we arent even sure he enters the starting line up...
next years team with no additions would still be a tourney team...with the projected improvements of fabian white and chris harris..and adding cedric alley jr (2017 texas basketball, who is red-shirting from injury)..
then add we are adding sampsons best class to date, with 3 4stars, and a high 3star....not sure who starts
I really like that Nate Hinton guy you guys have coming in next year. UC was in on him through the whole process, but got Logan Johnson instead.
I think Houston in likely the pre-season favorite next year. I don't think Evans is coming back to UC, which means we will drop off a bit next year. Still should be a tourney team, but not Top 10 like we are this year.
Hinton should be good. But unless a player is top 50, I generally don't expect a ton from them in their freshman year, especially when Houston has veteran guys in front him with proven scoring abilities. This is a league where you win with JR's and SR's and I expect Houston to ride those older players.
As for houston next year; I think they will be good. But they will have some questions to answer.

Agree about Gary Clark.
He's kind of an anomaly on the Bearcats team.
And you know this because you're at UC's practices?

Gonna be a great addition to the starting lineup next year for Houston
Dejon Jarreau will be taking Rob’s spot in the starting lineup. And we’ll keep Armoni “Instant Offense” Brooks as the sixth man.
Man i dunno, maybe your right but nothing about Dejon Jarreau's stats jump off the page and his 20% from 3 point range is concerning.
IF Galen starts at point ( he should IMO), and you mesh him with Corey Davis JR and Jarreau, You basically run an offense that ends up having 2 guards who can't shoot from distance and it clogs the lane a bit.
Looking at the roster, I'd start it something like this:
PG: Robinson ( need a senior ball handler on the floor) 6'1
SG: Corey Davis Jr 6'2
G/SF: Armoni Brooks 6'4 but with a huge wingspan.
PF: Fabian white 6'7
PF/C: Breon Brady 6'8
Then hinton, A. Davis, & Jareau run the backup wing spots.
Brooks has NBA potential as a 3 & D player, espeically if his wingspan is what sampson said it was. I think he rises and ends up starting next year. I don't see any of the freshman pushing him out of the way.
hinton is 6'6, jereau 6'5, and cedrick alley is 6'5 ..who ever starts at the 3 is going to have a a long wing span..
and galen and corey are known for defense so the need for a 3rd defensive guard specialist isnt high
my worry with starting brooks is we become extremely reliant on the 3..he has an amazing jumper (high arch with his 6'4 frame and a quick release, with half court range) while being top 50 nationally in shooting percentage ...but his handles leave a lot to be desired, he isnt very good at taking it to the rim when not open... what makes us good now is even when shooting a low percentage from 3 rob can still get you points regardless. i worry with brooks if we are having an off night its game over
will be curious to see how sampson plays it, from scouting reports hinton and dejon are great drivers and versatile top level scorers but subpar at the 3. or brooks elite at the 3 but not a great driver...or go a complete different rout and go alley who is very good at the 3 (maybe not brooks level) but unlike brooks is very physical..who is basically a 4, who can shoot extremely well and decent handles
but im saying this from how they are now, who know how any of them will look in year after developing some more

lol harsh, 247 (not the composite) had him a top 100 4star, he didnt produce a ton of stats at umass but he was a starter there and their coach loved him

But thats why you need to mix and match them.
Having a scorer on the wing to receive kick outs from Davis Jr or Robinson is a huge asset.
Also Brooks defensive rebounds like a guy who isn't 6'4. And like I said, he doesn't turn it over ever.
If he defends, Rebounds, and Shoots over 40% from 3 at a high volume, he will get some looks for the next level.
Obviously it most likely be an open competition, but i just can't see a scenario where Brooks isn't the exact kind of player you need when you have a non shooting PG like Robinson on the floor.
Devin Davis really helped Houston space the floor with his great mid range shooting. If they start both White and Brady, they lose some floor spacing and will really need that 2nd shooter in the lineup because Davis Jr is going to be the #1 guy on the scouting report next year. When UC played Houston, they said, we will live and die by trying to shutdown Rob Gray. that focus will switch to Davis Jr, so they are going to need a quick release jump shooter who can make even contested shots. Brooks is that guy IMO
