what kind of grass do you have?

I've found it to work best on the thicker bladed grasses (st. Aug) and take care of clover, dollar weed, and wild onion just fine.....

another helpful item that helps the health over time is to cut often, change patterns, and always cut tall unless you have bermuda

Ditto on all that. St. Aug mow low in winter to keep weeds from making seeds then mow high in summer.

It is the South Carolinians that put mustard on their BBQ, but they can't help it, they don't know any better. In NC we use vinegar or ketchup based sauces. I prefer Eastern-style vinegar based sauce. Boy, those ECU grads can make a sandwich like nobody's business.

There’s a style of barbecue 2 counties over from Bowling Green. It’s called ‘Monroe County Style’ (those locals say MONroe cownny pronouncing the mon like the bon in bonfire, us city slickers say it like munroe county).

Anyhoo there’s is a vinegar base. Heavy use of cayenne pepper. The most popular way they serve it as sliced shoulder. You can get shredded for a sammich but sliced shoulder is the way to go. You can order it sprinkled or dipped. Sprinkled is just what it sounds like. You have the shoulder in a styrofoam box to go and they sprinkle it generously. Nice and hot. But dipped is a different story. It’s pretty much bathed in it. Super delicious. They’ll throw in a couple of slices of white bread in a little wax paper bag to go with it. Good for sopping up that sauce later.

Every state has their own take on barbecue. I haven’t found too many yet that I didn’t like. But dahbeed is a carnivore. So there’s that.

another little know tidbit is to check you ph levels......it's almost a given in the south that the acidic level is high....

stinkfist also recommends dethatching annually once temps consistently reach 65 degrees at night if that is an issue due to neglect...

stinkfist also recommends if drought conditions settle in, to water in the am for at least 1 hr in lieu of setting a timer for 15 min. multiple spurts....

Not acid in San Antonio. Soil here is very alkaline so the exact opposite. Needs acid but I usually use iron to green grass up. Used to use Green Light but they got bought out so I have to use expensive Ironite now. If it rains a lot, St. Aug gets very pail and iron is the only thing to green it up. Drought is very much a problem here in San Antonio in the middle of the summer. I have only about 12 inches of soil on top of solid limestone. So watering is very important in the hot South Texas sun. I have cultivated several oak trees around the house to counter the very hot Texas summer. Me likes the shade. As a result, I have patches where even St. Aug won't grow. My fix is to build a deck in the backyard where I can drink my brews and listen to the tunes. Usually the tunes on an MP3 player but I just got a Sonos I now play from my laptop. I don't like the software to control music with Sonos. So I'm working to use mediamonkey to feed Sonos like an online radio station and control the mediamonkey through a cell phone into the laptop which plays the music in mediamonkey streaming to the Sonos. I haven't figured out the streaming to Sonos yet. When I get it going, I'll blast the neighborhood out! Then contemplate where I'm at with my grass. Might even play some Tool which some Southern Miss. guy on the music thread got me into.
