Or am I wrong?
You're correct. Troy baseball, basketball, football, etc. will be on this platform for $5.99/month... plus MLB games, MLS soccer, etc.
Imagine ESPN3, but now $5.99/month.
The Sun Belt will still have games shown on the ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU family as well, along with the CCG likely to be on ESPN or ESPN2.

MBB, WBB, and Baseball? If all the schools games are on this platform for all of these then its a GREAT deal for a fan of that school, but probably not as good for "General" exposure.
If all our content that was previously put on ESPN3 is switching to ESPN+, I don't think we will lose all that much exposure. I've never met a casual sports fan that perused the ESPN3 streams for something to watch. Most of the people that were tuning in on ESPN3 are fans of the school who are going to be paying for ESPN+. Then we still have the built in ESPN weekday games to get that general exposure.
I would agree with that but it also voids the Sun Belt's ability to grow the brand as well. Of course, all of us are already getting pushed aside anyway by the powers, and this is the acceptance of that by the league.
The reason why C-USA 1.0 was able to emerge and be a player leading some teams to be able to join power leagues or be on the cusp or at least have privileged 5 TV deal is because they fought back against that. The Fox and CBS deals of over a decade ago weren't perfect, but it was better than being relegated to third class citizen by ESPN. If there is anything that we have left in current C-USA it's at least that hope to continue to carry on the fight. The Sun Belt clearly just gave up today and acquiesced to the powers that be.

The Sun Belt gave up?? If the Sun Belt gave up, then what did Judy MacLeod do during CUSA's last renegotiation? I don't forsee any fight being had by CUSA leaders at this point.
Our schools will be making more money and be on a similar platform that most games were already being shown on, plus likely keeping the same amount of ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU games. CUSA was left with Facebook Live, Stadium, BeIN, and Twitter... and a few ESPN games sprinkled in.

RE: Any word on C-USA tv deals?
And here's the word from the SBC:
While the Sun Belt’s current contract with ESPN runs through the 2019-20 academic year, the two parties have agreed to enhancements within that deal while also securing a long-term agreement through the 2027-28 academic years that grants ESPN exclusive rights for the distribution of all Sun Belt sports with exposure on ESPN linear and digital platforms.
** The inaugural Sun Belt Football Championship Game will be played on Saturday, December 1, 2018, on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2, with future championship games also televised on one of these networks.
** A guarantee that all Sun Belt home football games will be available on an ESPN platform for the seventh consecutive year in 2018 and for the duration of the long-term contract with ESPN.
** A continued increase of men’s and women’s basketball games on ESPN platforms. The number of men’s basketball contests available will jump to a minimum of 100 games in 2018-19 and 150 games in the 2019-20 season.
Beginning with the 2020-21 academic year:
** A minimum of 500 events a year will appear on an ESPN platform.
** Every Sun Belt football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball game will be on an ESPN platform.
** Nationally televised football games at Sun Belt home venues will expand from the current amount of 7 televised games to a minimum of 10 games a year on a combination of ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.
** All Sun Belt Championship sports events will be on an ESPN platform each academic year to increase exposure.
** Digital productions will expand to include regular season competition in Sun Belt sports that have received only limited or no coverage previously.
The Sun Belt and ESPN’s announcement comes after the announcement that ESPN+ will be launched in spring 2018. ESPN+ will be ESPN’s first-ever multisport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service. For just $4.99 a month, subscribers will receive thousands of additional live events, on-demand content and original programming not available on ESPN’s linear television or digital networks.
Fans will access ESPN+ as an integrated part of a completely redesigned ESPN App. Already the leading sports app, the new ESPN App will give sports fans an unmatched, one-stop digital sports platform that provides easy, dynamic access to everything ESPN offers, anytime, anywhere across mobile and OTT (over the top) platforms. With a richer, increasingly more personalized experience, the new ESPN App will curate all of ESPN’s incredible content into a content experience unique to each fan’s individual tastes.

This is the only positive news out of this announcement.
But I fear for you guys that it comes with a caveat. I bet eight or nine of those 10 will be weeknight games.

And 0 games will be on ABC....What is the $$ increase? $50 k more per school? This sounds horrible, rather stay on what we have or go all Stadium then selling out like this...

It just sounds like they're becoming October's version of MACtion.

It wouldn't be much different than now. We had 3 Sun Belt home games on Saturday ESPN lineups, the rest were Wednesday/Thursday games. Only difference is now we'll have more exposure.

This is a lot different in many aspects to MACtion. We haven't sold our souls to weekday games.

RE: Any word on C-USA tv deals?
espn gets that $5 fee each month
If each of the 12 SBC schools had 10k in fans (total 120k fans that signed up at $5 a month...$50 a year for the SBC app,
thats $6,000,000 going to the SBC and 15k each (180k) that's 9 million
The SBC and CUSA should follow the OVC on how to develop a app and show the conference content....then charge the $5 a month
You could still sell the championship games (fb/bb) and a few games in each sport for weekly games to TV
Anyone know the money amount the SBC is getting? I bet it's less than 2 million a year. But controlling your own network and charging for it you reduce the number of fans that can see games....
but my guess its less than 5k than if it was on espn+

The problem I see with conference digital networks like the one you described is that it would be very hard to get 10K fans per school to sign up at $5/month per year. Once you put it behind a paywall, you are going to cut off all but the most diehard of fans. That is why something like ESPN Plus is attractive as they are drawing $5 a month from more than just the CUSA schools as a base.

RE: Any word on C-USA tv deals?
Back in November Forbes reported that BAM Tech OWNS the out-of-market rights to the NHL and MLB and was acquired by ESPN to be included in ESPN+
ESPN has also purchased the out-of-market rights to Major League Soccer.
If the Forbes claim is accurate, that means for $60 a year you get all out-of-market MLB, NHL, and MLS plus whatever other content they add.
MLS out-of-market was being sold for about $75, MLB.tv is $115, and NHL Game Center is $139.
Again if the Forbes report is accurate, everyone who paid $115 year for MLB.tv is going to be telling ESPN here, please take my $60. As will everyone who paid $139 for the NHL or $75 for MLS.
Now I'm still waiting for a real announcement on the NHL and MLB but this is a freaking game changing package if Forbes is right.

If you want to grow your brand, I'd argue it's better to have more games on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU and not places like ESPN3, beIN, Facebook Live, and stations that most cable packages don't have like CBS Sports.
The main downside I see to this TV deal is having to pay for the content you used to be able to get on ESPN3 for free, but it's not like ESPN3 is only dumping Sun Belt content, and it's only $20 to get every football game for a season and all of the other content ESPN will put on Plus.

They get more money and every game available via streaming and 10 over the air national football broadcasts per year. If CUSA got that deal, but including several basketball national broadcasts too and we didnt have to move to weekday football, Id call it a win. I expect Judy will soon be announcing a new media deal where she will hold her phone up at games and do a periscope broadcast.

If we all don't have 25,000 fans sitting at home watching our games on free TV we are in trouble. So you have to think if 40% of those are not diehard fans enough to pay $5 a month to watch 3 and most of the time 4 football games a month and up to 8 basketball games ....
might as well not worry about TV or anything else
That's just your team not counting every other CUSA game and on demand
Most SBC fans will be welling to pay the $5 just because of the conference games the same for CUSA. Just a guess on my part but I bet less than 25% of those that watch espn3 watch more than a small part of another conference games.
I just think if money is important controlling your content and streaming is the future. If not one is willing to give you enough money for it....
its the only way to go

I haven't seen a figure amount so I assume it's still under 2 million and that would double (not likely) the money the SBC gets.
2017 Western alone had 4 fb games on national football broadcasts and counting BEIN 6 games
Those 10 games down mean SBC vs SBC it could be SBC vs P5 school
Is there really any different between espn3/+ than Stadium streaming?

That would be like apples to oranges.....scoreboard views are bad and fans know it. Have you ever looked at the OVC app? If they can put out good views and clear views so should CUSA

Yes its free and I don't have a clue if it wasn't. But what % of the SBC fans do you think is buying espn+ for the other content? My guess, 90% if not more are welling to pay $5 just because the SBC is o it.
The point with the OVC is if they can stream good flowing clear content for free. Surely CUSA could if charging $5 a month. The #1 complaint on CUSA TV....
how crappy the stream is or the scoreboard view
BTW in all the games I watched on the OVC (maybe 10) only one had a scoreboard view
