Well I'll be danged. I thought the Memphis loss would bounce us from the rankings in favor of a less deserving "p5" team. Maybe the Coogs starting to get some rispek!

Really we are pretty close in national perception to all the conferences not ACC or Big 1G. Although we could make an argument for the Big 1G if we have similar bids and Houston stays ranked.

Honestly, the Pac 12 is a worse conference all-around than the AAC IMO. Football got mollywopped in Bowls and were clearly outclasses. Basketball they are a mid-major conference and will be even worse once their premiere basketball school gets the San Francisco treatment. Ratings they aren't much better than us.

Being exclusively on the west coast really hurts the Pac-12. I’m pretty confident that they’re coming after two central time zone universities in the next round of realignment. More specifically, Texas universities.

I would agree, if not for one going to the gallows soon, another two being average basketball schools, one now being an average football school (albeit with a nice corporation in their back pockets and a Bol Bol sized infraction about to be examined), and another being average at both.

I'm obviously not completely believing what I'm saying in a grander sense (historical relevance, prestige, etc), but this year I don't think it would be hard to argue that the AAC is a better conference than the PAC 12

The only thing keeping the numbers (RPI, KP) from reflecting that (in basketball) is ECU and USF....
