German could very well be MAC player of the year and still doesn't mean they will be good. They play horrible as a team and don't see that finally changing going into his 8th year unless they get some grad transfers that have played from other programs.

Key wouldn’t transfer he just sat out this whole year he’s not going to sit another year. I really don’t believe Geno would leave because he loves to play to much not sure he could sit a year.

They play horrible as a team generally for the first half. They generally play well in the second half and play well at home. It’s true German being player of the year doesn’t automatically make you good but if you have the top scorer in the conference and another top 8-13(Bradley) conference scorer and another top 20(Thorpe) ranked scorer and a top 30(Key) pt scorer you got a chance to be good.

Kinda like Xavier Silas, Sean kowel, and Jake Anderson. Players need direction and Monty doesn't have that.

Who recruited these low basketball IQ guys?
IF we truly have three guys who could start on any MAC team -- and next year Key can be added to that list -- and we're the bottom of the MAC west, then what further evidence is necessary that a different coach is needed?
Unfortunately, due to NIU's financial limitations and STF lacking the courage, a change is not coming.

57, do you not think, German, Bradley or Thorpe could start on other MAC teams? There is no question about German or Bradley. You could argue either way about Thorpe. And Jaylen Key was every bit as good as Bradley when he got hurt.

RE: MBB @ EMU
The coaching staff recruited the players. I believe that most coaches including the Huskies staff believe that a couple years in their program will help with basketball IQ. and making smarter decisions and in making the right play. Most of the time this is true. NIU’s problem is the majority of the team is not here long enough. Next years team is going to be junior and senior dominated.

I can see it now, just in time to have one decent year, get a contract extension and then go back to being young.

I believe next year the team will be very solid & much improved with Bradley, German, Key & Thorpe leading the way. It is critical that one of our big guys develops into a force or we pick one up. This is the only piece we are missing (& a big one) to be a force next year. As bad as this team is at times, I do see the potential for a breakout.

Ah yes, I can see it now. Next year's team of studs gets to .500 and this board goes nuts.

With the same coach and 7 years of history, we ain't going nowhere, folks. Please wake me up when there's a coaching change.

German, Keyes,

Probably get pooched by Iowa State ....again

It's Key not Keyes.
And, if he does leave, he'll sit another year and only have one to play. Don't think so.
Geno German??????? Never know there.

No. 1, it doesn't matter what I think, you think, etc. My point is that assuming they are good enough to start on other MAC teams, then clearly this staff is not utilizing the talent. To have a coaching staff seven years in and still not be able to get above .500 in the MAC would not be tolerated anyplace but here.

No. 2, playing your hypothetical game, who knows. Would the coach at -- pick a school: MU, WMU, OU, UT, BG, etc. -- add German to his line-up? Or course. Would that coach add German and Bradley? Probably. Would one of those coaches opt to start all three ahead of players he recruited, has worked with and are part of his system? Those odds go down.

No. 3, following your hypothetical, all three are magically now starters at another MAC school --- Does that school do better than .500? If so, another indictment of NIU's program having simply gone from Patton pathetic to Monty mediocrity.

IF not for NIU's financial situation and Frazier's lack of courage, the Huskies will be doing something I don't believe has been allowed to happen at any other Division I men's basketball program. Stay the course for eight years to get above .500 in the conference? Seriously?

German would sit a year and have two left. Key would sit a year and have one left. There is no rule to allow a player to transfer w/o sitting if a coach leaves. It's been talked about but does not exist.

Yes! Jaylen Key has two years left of eligibility. If he were to transfer he would have to sit out again.

I loved Key before the injury, BUT, will he come back to his former ability.

I still say give Monty one more year with a healthy and improved roster. I think Hamilton and Daow will be much improved in 2018 -
2019.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can say that again.

Why no pick and roll with German and Bradley? They are your two best players just run that all game with a pass to the wing now and then.
