Hoping for UCF losses to Temple & WSU + Memphis loss to UConn.

I'd rather face Memphis minus their top scorer than UCF @ home in the conference tourney.

Logical, but we have actually played better lately without Martin. I think we were down 11 points to Houston when Martin went out, and we won by 6.

Also beat SMU on the road without Martin the whole game.

That can't be right. I've been told Tubby can't recruit. .

Unhappy fans just don't like the ones he got. Eleven new faces b/c everybody left except Martin and Rivers. Tubby gets all the blame for that, too.

But they certainly have improved since the beginning of the season. And less any transfers, everybody will be back next year except Rivers.

Problem is, only recruit is the 7'3" dude who likes to shoot 3s.

LOL. No. But I don't think anything would make the Memphis fan base happy right now. A bunch of them are sad we beat Houston last night.

Those people are more Tubby haters than Memphis fans.

I expect them to be down right depressed next year if Tubby keeps to historic form and has you in the NCAA's next year.

Actually, I don't think that's true. I know too many of them. They just have their priorities screwed up.

I dont think Tubby is the right person for our job and I think we are going to miss a generational line of Memphis talent next year because he is our coach.

However, I do not root against him or the kids.

Were you sad about the Houston upset?

I think there is a small percentage of your fan base who is exactly what I said. That's not the same as being skeptical of a coach just now completing his second year.

RE: AAC Tourney Bracketology (02/23/18 update)
Monday morning 2/26 update. One week of basketball to play

• First Round - Thursday, March 8 (All Games on ESPNU)
• Game 1: No. 9 SMU vs. No. 8 UConn - Noon ET
• Game 2: No. 12 USF vs. No. 5 Memphis - 2 p.m. ET
• Game 3: No. 10 Tulane vs. No. 7 UCF - 7 p.m. ET
• Game 4: No. 11 ECU vs. No. 6 Temple - 9 p.m. ET

• Quarterfinals - Friday, March 9
• Game 5: SMU/UConn vs. No. 1 Cincinnati - Noon ET (ESPN2)
• Game 6: USF/Memphis vs. No. 4 Tulsa - 2 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
• Game 7: Tulane/UCF vs. No. 2 Wichita State - 7 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
• Game 8: ECU/Temple vs. No. 3 Houston - 9 p.m. ET (ESPNU)

Provided UC and WSU don't trip up this week (not a gimmie with both on the road) the Sunday game between the two will decide the 1 seed.

The other interesting battle is shaping up for the final bye between Tulsa and Memphis . Memphis schedule could not be move favorable to win out and finish 11-7 . Temple @ Tulsa on Sunday could be pivotal in deciding the 4 seed. Memphis and Tulsa split their season series so a tie breaker would come down to their records vs the 1 seed ...then the 2 seed etc... til the tie is broken

records vs UC : Memphis 0-2, Tulsa 0-1
record vs WSU : Memphis 0-1, Tulsa 0-2

Without diving into the depths of the tie breaking procedures . Im not sure how they treat an 0-1 record vs an 0-2 .

just amazing that SMU/UConn would be the 8/9 game.

I guess question with the bracket would Temple with wins over ECU and Houston get in the tourney at 20-13(assuming wins both games this week). I'd say probably for sure if they get one over Wichita as well.

yeah , sounds like they would combine the records vs UC and Wichita if they end up tied in the standings. So both would be 0-3 and it would move to Houston . Also seems to indicate its based on number of win vs. those opponents ..again it would move to Houston . So advantage Memphis if Tulsa and Memphis end up tied.

you all can read through this if you get bored : )

Two-Team Tie
1. Regular season head-to-head results (one or two games). If the tied teams split their two games, then proceed to Step 2.

2. Each team’s record vs. the team or tied teams occupying the highest position in the standings. Continue down through
the standings until one team gains an advantage.

When comparing records against a single team or collective tied teams (before ties
are broken), the following may apply:
a. If the games played against the team or group are equal, winning percentage
prevails.
b. If the games played against the team or group are unequal, the following
scenarios apply:
i. Most wins do prevail only if the team with fewer wins could not equal that
win total if they played the same number of games. Two examples of many
scenarios that do provide an advantage:
1) Team A 2-0
2) Team A 3-0
Team B 0-1
Team B 1-1
ii. Most wins do not prevail if the team with fewer wins could equal or surpass
the win total of the other team. Two examples of many scenarios that do not provide an advantage:
1) Team A 1-1
2) Team A 2-0
Team B 0-1
Team B 1-0
iii. Fewer losses do not prevail if the teams have the same number of wins and if
the team with fewer games could equal or surpass the loss total of the other
team. Two examples of many scenarios that do not provide an advantage:
1) Team A 1-0
2) Team A 0-1
Team B 1-1
Team B 0-2
c. If an advantage is not determined, proceed to the next team or group in the
standings for comparison.
d. If the tie cannot be broken after continuing down through the last team or
teams in the standings, revert back to comparing records against the top teams
in order and allow winning percentage to prevail even if there is a comparison of
unequal games. Only then, if the percentages are both 1.000, is 2-0 better than
1-0. However, the reverse is not true – no team gains advantage when all have a
.000 winning percentage (0-1 is never better than 0-2).

I believe even if UC loses this week, the game on Sunday is still for the one seed. The Thursday game just determines if UC clinches at least a share of the title or not.

WSU can't afford to slip up, however, if we are discussing the 1 seed or reg season title.

I believe even if UC loses this week, the game on Sunday is still for the one seed. The Thursday game just determines if UC clinches at least a share of the title or not.

WSU can't afford to slip up, however, if we are discussing the 1 seed or reg season title.

This is correct. As long as Wichita doesn't lose this will be for the 1 seed in the conference tournament. UC v. Tulane only matters for UC clinching a share of the conference title (though a share would not feel very good having been swept by the team they share it with). Sunday should be huge. I think both teams will take care of business. AP #10 v. AP #11.
