Rice MBB at FAU
Unreal effort in overtime to recover from a disastrous second half. Team doesn't quit, that's for sure.

Congrats to the team. The win probably doesn't mean anything if we don't beat UTEP at home, but it gives them confidence for the remainder of games at the least. And it's a big spirit lifter. Actually if we beat FIU Saturday, then this win does mean something (assuming UTEP isn't winning any games either).

Payback for the buzzer beater loss to FAU here in Houston.

Effectively, yes, as UTEP’s win over LATech now gives them a very strong tiebreaker edge. Rice still has the outside chance at a tiebreaker at 4-14 but it involves USM passing Tech, or FAU catching Tech in the standings.
Anyway I’ve said all along it would take 5 wins to advance. 3 down, 2 to go!! Great win last night!

Pretty cool to get be on ESPN's Top 10 this morning!
That's pretty cool alright - and those commentators seem WAY more excited than most of us are!
Nice to be on ESPN and in a good way.
Clutch shot.

LOL, I had the same thought. Congrats to the team though.

I’ll have to share my post from the conference board... I’m extremely geeked about the breakthrough win!

Rice MBB at FAU

Rice (last month, to FAU): nobody comes in OUR house and gets an easy win. Game winner at :03 left...
FAU (three seconds later) You left too much time on the clock, yo, FAU FTW..
Fast forward to last night at FAU..
Rice led double digits most of the night before FAU closed on a 13-0 or something run and took it to OT. Tied it up again after we fouled with couple seconds left but then AKO banked in the game winner at the buzzer. Rice responds!!!
An hour or so later... UTEP comes out of nowhere to toss their hat back in the ring with a last minute game winner vs LATech.
Weird, all of a sudden these guys are playing like they WANT it.
USM and FIU are safely in (not clinched but safe) at 6 wins
FAU 5-10 looked good a week ago but may need one more win to qualify
UTEP 4-11 Now has a tiebreaker inside track as long as LATech (7 wins) stays ahead of the rest of the sub-500 crowd.
Rice 3-12 still looking up at UTEP and hosts them next week, but realistically has to get another win for 5 to even have a chance.
Charlotte 1-14. Sorry Charli. We just did the math and you are officially done. The ONLY scenario where you could get in a tie for 12th is a 3-way tie with Rice and UTEP. And you are 0-2 against that pair.
So the last two tickets are basically down to Rice, UTEP, and, yes, FAU.
Tomorrow: FAU hosts UNT, UTEP hosts USM, and Rice is at FIU.
#GEEKED and that means a lot coming from a #RICEOWL
