My daughters and I have been in awe of the snowboarding and skiing also. We will also have the curling on the background during the day.

Luckily they have been covering the skiing and snowboarding at great length and not spending all their time on the skating events which they have done in the past, which bore the schit out of me. My big complaint is they aren't covering any of the hockey on NBC's main channel and because I cut the cord, what is on the main channel is what I get. All in all NBC has done a pretty good job. They should ditch their fake news and focus on covering sporting events.

Download the NBC sports app and you can watch all the hockey games you want there live. You'll need an ID and password to verify your 'service' but that's easily done if you have friends. Cough, cough.

I will definitely go through that trouble if USA hockey is in contention in the elimination rounds.

RE: Winter Olympics
Decent comeback by Team USA after a pretty lethargic first 2 weeks. We had a solid day today highlighted by two thrilling wins over Canada (women's hockey winning the gold and men's curling upsets Canada in the semifinals just now). No one is going to catch Norway in the medals race however. This article explains why Norway is so good in the Winter Olympics (basically it's all about the money).

Norway has one of the world's largest oil fields offshore and a population of only 5 million to split up the royalties. Plus they focus on winter sports. How many medals do they win in the summer games?

Their facilities for winter sports are truly amazing.

The only time I've watched any of it was when my brother texted and told me to look at this Johnny Weir freak commentating on the ice skating. Shame on NBC for putting that thing on TV because some things just cant be unseen. 03-lmfao

They only had 4 bronzes in Rio. and 4 total medals in London in 2012. They did a little better in the three before that, but yes, they obviously concentrate on the winter games. Interestingly, they used to have more athletes in the summer versions, but now they have about twice as many winter athletes as they do in the summer games.

RE: Winter Olympics
I break the winter Olympics into 2 sections: the traditional sports, and the stoner-derived X sports.

USA essentially swept the stoner X sports. Back that number out of the USA totals and it is sad.

What part of NC are you in? Both Charlotte and RDU have dedicated ice clubs that are pretty cool.

There's also a club in Wilmington. Ice isn't as nice, but they've got some really cool members.

Growing up my main sport was baseball just in the local city league - I enjoyed it, but in hindsight I kinda wish I worked on a really obscure sport like curling.
