He left UK without a word to anyone, not even his boss. He didn't tell the players or talk to them when he left. I believe he did the same thing to TT.

There is a lot about Tubby that the media wont touch. He gets the benefit of the doubt over and over, and the bad parts left unsaid.

If Tubby sees an end to his time in Memphis coming he wont adapt or work to fix anything, he will work on finding his next victim.

I'm a UK fan but hope Memphis does well in conference. Don't give him longer believing it will turn around. Even if it does it's fools gold, he wont sustain it.

I lived in Madisonville,KY during the Kentucky Tubby years.
Cat fans were pretty down on Tubby. His nickname in public at that time was "ten loss Tubby"
Didn't remember the staff change exchange with the school...but that probably didn't make his job any easier...and his Houdini act actually opened up Cat fans for the glorious Billy G years LOL

Yep, good ole 10 loss tubs.

He had a good run at UK (not fantastic), 5 sec titles, 5 Elite eights, title with Ricks players. We were all ready for him to go, probably 3 years prior. It didn't help that he was chose over Billy Donovan then Donovan blows up.

Mitch Barnhart is responsible for Billy G, and he is no longer in charge of basketball for that and for trying to evade the Cal hire. He's a hatchet man, cant stand him.

But hey, UK and Memphis are connected forever now. Almost like we're the same program. May Penny come on board and the relationship continue...04-bow04-high5

Well, it is interesting times with all signs pointing to a major shakeup once new findings from the FBI probe come out. Many schools will look to recover. Who bettter than a squeaky clean HOF coach who’s discontent in Memphis? We may get bailed out again!

Handwringing is better than stress eating imo

IF Tubby goes behind the fanbase's back and lands another job like you say there will be hell to pay. Our fans will be OUTRAGED.

-$3m + a year
-Doesn’t have to recruit
-No expectations from his bosses

At this point, Rudd & Bowen might as well let him finish his 5 years and then hire Saul as coach.

As Jed Clampett said.....a man would be a fool to leave all of this.

I can't think of any scenarios where he will be back. Both sides will use common sense to make it happen.

You really think TS walks away from nearly $10m?

I think what will happen is that he will be given a choice to be fired and get his full pay or say that he resigned and take an undisclosed amount that is a little bit less. You can put a value on dignity, the only question is what the number is.

I think that there is about a 10% chance that he is back next year.

Ok, thanks. I thought so. Just didn’t know the school.

I wonder if he’s doing it again? I would think so.

I would respect Tubby more if he was doing that instead of just riding it out and collection what he is owed.

Respectively disagree. IMO there is a 90% chance he will be back. The administration is giving him 3 years period... Next year if there is not a major turnaround in wins he will be bought out.

Agreed...They couldn't stomach buying Pastner out for the same amount of money I think they feel the same about Tubby.

Or Maybe the crap that Pastner is going through off the court gets him canned at Gtech and they bail us out again.

There will be a lot of schools looking for a clean coach after the NCAA sanctions are leveled due to the FBI report.

Tubby has one simple problem that overrrides all other issues; he's just too comfortable coaching teams that maintain a KenPom rating in the mid to high 100s. Programs like ours that desire to be a Top 25 contender are a poor match for his career aspirations.

You guys still follow him with your negative posts wherever he goes? Many UK fans call Tubby years as good old days. Are you mad because of his accomplishments? He took you guys to the dance every single year that he coached your team. After he left, BCG took over and took your program to the ground. Then, you got Cal as the best coach in the world. You pay him about 10-20 million dollars a year to streamline players to NBA. Are you mad because you guys got kicked out on NIT with all of your 5* players in the 1st round? Are you mad because you may not make the dance this year again with your 5* players? I am not sure why you are so mad?????? Players who played during Tubby's era call themselves Cats. How many of the Cal's players ever call themselves a Cat? Show some class and acknowledge the guy who brought so much fun to your program. There was some down times but he always took you to the dance something that you will be watching on TV this year with all of your 5* players who will be packing their bags for NBA.
