RE: Jox Interview with Ehsan
I'm ecstatic about the way football has been trending but it really sucks that it seems to have come at the expense of our basketball program.

I remember thinking WTF at our last list of coaching candidates when Haase left. It's like UAB isn't even really trying to have a good program anymore.

good luck on getting someone other than a high school coach. If you are not going to pay the head coach anything and going to pull the plug after three years, you aren't going to get many takers.

But he won't be fired next year unless he is caught with sheep, regardless of his record. Basketball isn't important enough anymore for them to fire someone after three years.

Look at the UTK FB program since Phillip Fulmer was run off. Look at the UCLA BB program since they made Gene Bartow feel unwanted. I'm sure there are other examples of bad results to intemperate actions by university forces. The worst attribute with which a university's program can be labeled is "Instability of decision making". Good coaches run from such as quickly as possible.

Did we pay Ehsan what we could or what Ingram thought he was worth?

One national championship, five Final Fours, thirty NCAA appearances. Damn they suck.

I'd hate for uab to suffer through another year of sub mediocrity bc we know that we have a crappy coach after 3 years. I get the possibly scaring off future coaches angle. However, if a candidate looked at it objectively, they'd see that he sucked for 3 years and appropriately got let go. In that scenario it's not like we fired him for one bad season. 3 years is well enough to know what you've got IMO.

Just because he hasn’t lived up to your expectations doesn’t mean he has sucked.

Would he do a better job coaching if we paid him $750k a year?

His salary and 4 year deal was fine given his age and relative inexperience.

You probably need to rid yourself of the idea of getting rid of him after 3 years.

Unless you can offer up a $500,000 contingent donation.

RE: Jox Interview with Ehsan
Everyone talks a good game about buying out coaches until someone within the AD calls asking for money to do it as well as bumping the salary for the next guy.
