RE: Official Game Thread: @ UNC-Greensboro (L 56-74)
Got home late from going down to watch the game. Just a few observations: 1) it's the only other arena that had security measures, i. e. we had to empty pockets, etc. 2) they had decent atmosphere and their fan cam stuff was similar to some of ours - kiss cam etc. They had a roving student (I guess) with a mike that "hollered" like ours does. The nice crowd they had still looked sparse in the huge space. 3) I did NOT notice that bad officiating cost us the game. Television may have shown different but it looked fairly evenly called to me. And not many bad calls. 4) UNCG looked stronger and unlike some of the other SoCon teams, their energy didn't wane late in the game.

I look forward to getting revenge in Asheville!

RE: Official Game Thread: @ UNC-Greensboro (L 56-74)
Disappointed in the loss, but discouraged by the manner of the loss and the trend that it seems to be showing of this team playing with just enough energy to overcome poor teams over the course of the last number of games. When called on to match the high energy, athleticism and skill of a good team such as UNCG, they weren't capable of doing so.
Worried that this team isn't capable of winning 7 games in a row. I don't want to give up hope of a regular season championship and just hope for good match ups in the SOCON tournament which would probably mean a return match with UNCG, which I can't see us beating at this point. I think that the next game with WCU may go a long way towards previewing what we will see from this team in the next few weeks. If they come out listless and unfocused, we may be in for a rough ride.

I have to give credit to UNCG for their defense. Plus their press just flat out bothered us and we could never get into any rhythm. But allowing them to block 14 of our shots is unacceptable. That has to be some kind of record.

No expert here. But, beating someone three times in one season ain’t easy. Even UVA and Nova, for example, have stumbled. If we get UNCG in the tourney final, rather have lost this one than that one. Now, it’s up to Forbes to finish this season on a high note. Will he jack them up a notch or two to finish a great season? My guess, he’ll earn his money down the stretch.

Armus has been one of the best freshmen in the league and could arguably be starting for us (STILL the number 1 team in the conference) right now.

Look at your posts...you only show up when something goes wrong.

Everyone knew the league would come down to us and UNC-G except the socon South Carolina media that wants to prop up the private schools. It’s 1-1. Hopefully there is a 3rd meeting which will basically be a home game for us in Asheville if it is.

Your prognostics haven’t exactly been on target. Maybe sit this one out talking about a guy who is one of the top freahmen in the league.

Get out of here with your reasonable response. Time to panic and declare the season over. We got lucky for those 22 games we won. We’ll never be able to beat a UNC-g team that got beat by Chatt just a week ago.

Yeah a really dumb post by bukup.

I would say armus was the least of our worries last night outside of bradford.

Armus is gonna be a star player in tge years to come for us.

I mean damn he is a freshman and has been balling.

I think people are forgetting how good UNCG is and how much they hate us. They are better than last year and they wanted revenge, and it helped that ETSU didn't seem ready to handle them. Let's just hope they are ready to handle them in Asheville because I'm certain we will see them again.

Anyone else notice our worst games in the conference season have been road games on Monday after Saturday road games?

Can uncg survive their upcoming gauntlet of at the Citadel, Mercer, and Wofford without a loss?

Agreed. That game against them at home should have been a sellout and considered as much a rivalry as chatt imo. Home court advantage is such a huge factor in college basketball. On a neutral court such as Asheville, we are great at turning it into a home court advantage, so I like our chances there

While unfortunate, given the overall performance of the SoCon this season, this was the one game I was most worried about.

That being said, we lost at their house and in Johnson City, and still ended up in the NCAA Tournament last year. We still have 4 games left, and the chance to get a regular season championship is stil there.

Doubtful. Plus, the turn around is super fast. Thursday, Saturday, Next Monday, Next Friday, Next Sunday. I wouldn't like that schedule if all 5 were at home. 3 are on the road. G will drop one of those somewhere. Just law of averages. There'll be a letdown game somewhere.

Yeah the SoCon scheduling stinks. Why can’t it just be Saturday/Wednesday?

I think we all have been spoiled. Not losing for 16 games can do that to you.

I really wish we'd look at Friday night games as opposed to Saturday. I'm sure there's an issue with class time. But from a fan's perspective, I'd love to get rid of the idea of the Saturday SoCon Refs. Plus I think it would be a great way to get some national exposure for the league as it might be easier to get some of these games picked up by ESPN.

Any socon coach will tell you they like the Friday games. You get better refs.
