Well she did have a lot of help from the mainstream media and the left wing of the Democratic Party.

At one point DJT was only getting about 67% of the Republicans. He ended up with 92%. Hillary and friends did their best to sell the Republicans on DJT.

Who knows? Hillary???

Ginsburg was born in NYC and spent her whole life working in NYC and DC. She doesn't know a thing about the Midwest. Nobody who was enthused about Hillary has a clue about the Midwest.

Quote:Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Sunday "sexism" and a "macho atmosphere" helped doom Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.

"I think it was difficult for Hillary Clinton to get by even the macho atmosphere prevailing during that campaign, and she was criticized in a way I think no man would have been criticized," Ginsburg said during a discussion at Columbia University.

The liberal-leaning associate justice, who is 84 years old, shared a stage with CNN reporter Poppy Harlow and took a long pause before continuing.

"I think anyone who watched that campaign unfold would answer it the same way I did: Yes, sexism played a prominent part," she said.

Harlow had asked Ginsburg to clarify her statement late last year to Charlie Rose, then a journalist at PBS, that sexism "no doubt" contributed to Clinton's loss. Rose left PBS in November after facing sexual misconduct allegations.

Despite arguing that in 2016 sexism kept Clinton from the presidency, Ginsburg said Sunday she believes the country is ready for a female president.

"I think we were and will be the next time. Anyway, we should be careful about not getting me too much into the political arena," she said.

Well, which is it? If the country is ready to elect a female President then sexism couldn't have cost Clinton the election. She was just a horrible candidate and many Americans did not want to see an extension of the Obama administration. It's amazing liberals still don't get it. I hope they keep the blinders on. It will cost them many more elections.

About the only thing Ginsburg can do competently at her age is change her depends. She has no business on the Supreme Court, she needs to recuse herself for anything involving DJT.

I’m not necessarily committed to 12 years, but definitely in favor of some constitutionally-defined # of years.

Just remember it cuts both ways. Scalia sat there for 29+ years.

I was simply tossing out a number that was relevant divisible by 4......

I can't remember the thread, but someone made a posit about changing the house term limits to every 4 and senate to every 8.....I found that as a plausible interim solution....

as quickly as times are changing, regardless, it's silly to offer a lifetime position in any capacity when the good of the country is involved.....

Between 12 and 20 years.

It wouldn't take a constitutional amendment to do that for appellate and district court judges.

As political as these appointments are, I'm not sure if a time limit is a great idea. Even if you cut it off at 20 years, that would mean 4 current judges would have to be replaced (2 conversatives, 2 liberals). I doubt the Senate would be in favor of that, and it would also be a huge issue with most Americans, depending on who had control of the Presidency.

I think a mandatory retirement age would be a better solution - somewhere around 75. That would create the appointment of younger justices, which may or may not be a good thing.

In either case, a monumental change like this would have to be 'grandfathered' in, and should only be enforced to new justices moving forward.

I think a mandatory retirement age makes more sense than a fixed term. But not a huge proponent of either.

There is a lot of truth to what she is saying. Sexism was very much alive and well during the election. The way Trump would talk down to her was insulting and appalling. This country could have had back to back the two greatest presidents of all time and our own inherit sexism and macho head games wouldn’t allow us to elect a female president.

People who didn't vote for Hilary because she's a woman would not have voted for a democrat anyway, so the sexism is cancelled out.

You grandfather in current court members. The term is for future appointments.

Right now, there is a preference for younger judges so that they are on the court longer. I don't think that is a good thing.

Well she was. And I'm not sure any candidate has ever talked down to the American people like Hillary. And she certainly talked down to DJT.

2 greatest presidents? Only if you start counting from the bottom, Obama and her would have turned US to Cuba. She always spoke nice to us deplorables.
