Obviously only the top 4 seeds were what the selection committee released, but interesting to hear the agreement in the studio with WSU as a 6. I'd say that's a pretty decent seed, and leaves room to move up.

Me too. But lose even one game by the end of the season (even at UH or WSU) and we drop to a #4, #3 at best.

Remember the week WSU lost to Houston and SMU...

Was Houston not in Palms bracket? I didn't see them but might have missed it.

I generally agree. But 1 loss at WSU shouldn’t hurt UC. Doubt any of the other 7 go unscathed.

Good, I expect Temple to keep winning which will give us four. SMU and UCF's injuries cost us a fifth. When UConn and Memphis get back this will be a 5-6 bid conference consistently. ECU and USF getting in the top 200 would really help too.

Talked about having more losses but a better schedule so they would be a 6 right now thanks to the AAC. Said the MVC was a drag on their seed, AAC isn't.

No, I think we are a #3 right now, with a win today and one of the WSU games maybe then, still a lot of work to do. If the OOC drags UC down, then that's on Mick and the AD.

The ****** part of that OOC SOS is that it is very easily corrected by replacing two of the Alabama State-type games with a Wright State and an Akron, for example. Playing a few serviceable mid-majors over the bottom of the bottom moves our SOS way up.

FWIW

Texas Tech’s OOC SOS is #202
Michigan State’s OOC SOS is #215
UC’s is #116

Projected end of year overall SOS including conference play now has UC finishing about the same as TTU and UC will be 40-50 spots higher than Michigan St. beat the teams on the schedule and it’s a nothing burger.

Of course the MVC was a drag on our seed. That conference got zero respect even though it had teams that could beat a lot of "better" teams on any given night. Hell, we got swept by Evansville *throws up in mouth* the same year we nearly won the national championship (2013).

Lots of chirping chili-eatin' chickadees in this thread today. Might I remind you that yUCk still has a lot of basketball left to play - including the two most difficult games on your schedule thus far: WSU @ home and WSU @ "The Show".

I’ve said multiple times our level of play would not be good enough to get to the tournament if we were in the MVC this year.

No doubt. We've played a strong overall schedule, but it's those few at the bottom that are keeping our SOS from being great, rather than just above average. And you're right, we're in a position to finish strong and lock in as a 2.

The committee ignoring predictive metrics continues to be my biggest complaint. By kenpom the Midwest would have by far the weakest 1, the 2nd weakest 2, the weakest 3 and the weakest 4. Kenpom 13, 9, 15 and 28. I like valuing wins, but they are too often slaves to team sheets
