Normally the MAC teams with the best quarterbacks are also the top teams. Right now, Toledo has a few candidates (including two highly rated freshmen to be) but no experienced QB. Until Toledo has an actual productive QB, their ranking is mere speculation. Realistically, a MAC team needs at least two excellent QBs since the injury bug seems to hit big time most seasons.

Yup. When NIU dominated, they had great Qbs. When WMU won, they had a great Qb. When Toledo won, they had a great Qb. It's been like this for a long, long time in the MAC. Someone better step it up at Qb for Toledo next season because there is a ton of talent elsewhere to make it a complete team.

RE: SB 2018 Projected FB Rankings (MAC)
Who are the best returning QBs this coming season?

Many were graduated including EMU's Roback, whom we are learning was hurt much of 2017. A healthy Roback and we win a few more games...

OU's Nathan Rourke seems like he might be the real deal.

He had 2203 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air. Rushed for an additional 912 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground. Oh, and he also has a receiving TD with some trickery against Akron.

RE: SB 2018 Projected FB Rankings (MAC)
Personally I like Ohio to win the league with Toledo or WMU contending in the West. Rourke is a beast.
1 Ohio
2 Toledo
3 WMU
4 UB
5 NIU
6 EMU
7 MIAMI
8 CMU
9 AKRON
10 BG
11 KENT
12 BALL

Those are national predictions... UB vs Ohio in the Orange. Toledo vs. WMU in the Fiesta.

He looks to be the top returning guy by a wide margin. Great fit for OU style.

This is a more respectable list. It all comes down to the QB position and Ohio is the only team bringing back a really good QB. Toledo and WMU will be competitive due to the talent level on the rosters.

After that, I think it's wide open at this point. Some teams are in better shape like UB and NIU but there's not a lot of separation between 75% of league. But we've still got a longgggg offseason yet...

Tyree Jackson is back and should have a huge year for Buffalo

Ah yeah I forgot about Jackson. If he stays healthy, he should have a good year.

RE: SB 2018 Projected FB Rankings (MAC)
Miami has a ton of seniors with many players with 2/3 years of starting experience, and we have a 5th year starting QB in Ragland. Basically, it is now or never for Coach Martin and most of the roster after a disastrous season last year.

Even if he doesn't stay healthy, if Drew Anderson can play they will be just fine.

RE: SB 2018 Projected FB Rankings (MAC)
BSU will have a RS Jr in Riley Neal coming back, who was pretty decent in his time with the Cards until his season ender 3 games into last season, but will need to take a big step up (along with a big step up by several others) to be anything more than cellar-to-mid in the West. I can't disagree with the Cards in last until proven otherwise.

Quarterbacking in the MAC might be better in 2018 than I initially thought.

And Toledo's QB play will be better than the rest of the MAC thinks. The Rocket OL will be better. The Defense will take a huge step up, particularly in the front 7.

BG's Doege showed some signs of life last year. The main issue for BG is defense and they replaced their entire defensive coaching staff. With Oregon, Maryland & Ga Tech on the schedule, 5 wins would be a big success.

The Toledo program has recruited very well at the QB position over the years. Whomever steps in after Woodside, whether it be Guigani, Peters, Bradley, or Wilkinson, considering the returning offensive talent, Toledo will be just fine...
