The 8 wins Southern Miss has as a team this year against d1 teams are against schools that are a combined 51-122.

Good win!

Road wins are tough. Especially in this conference because you have to generate your own energy. For an unbeaten record at home that crowd tonight was pathetic. Off topic btw Is weight watchers banned in that state. It was a large crowd for sure just not large in numbers.
Also, we are leading CUSA in attendance.
Jeff’s reference to tired was that we just played three tight ball games gutted out two wins. Mental tiredness can affect Focus.
I thought the officiating in the first half was suspect.
We shot 12/25 from behind the arc. I thought that was pretty good. Played better D in the second half also.

How is sweating out a 200+ rpi win against a team with ZERO victories over teams in the top TWO F'ING HUNDRED of the rpi a "good win" now?

You guys and your hyperbole are absolutely absurd. They haven't beaten a team in the top half of college basketball the entire season and now, because we beat them, they are a good win.

Is this how low we've sunk as a program? That a win against a garbage 8-12, 200+ rpi and 0 top 200 victory team is now celebrated like a resume building win?

Jesus I miss Blaine Taylor (yeah, that's how garbage this program has become).

Garbage of a program? Or garbage of a league. Outside the top 4 teams, the rest is a cluster, but ODU still has to play them.

Here is the bottomline and it is this simple. We beat a team we should beat on their home court therefore .....it is a good win!

Not all of us are rainbows and unicorns like you insinuate. However, I am happy we won. Just because some of us celebrate a win doesn’t mean we are content with the total product. It doesn’t mean we are blind nor have lowered our expectations. The team is not a light switch with us only being able to like or hate the product. Well, at least not me.

I suppose you miss sober Blaine and not “non-sober” Blaine.

No one is claiming this is a "good win" in the sense that it makes us at-large worthy. But, many are simply saying that it was a "good win" because we struggled early, got into a hole, and, on the road, grinded our way to a victory. That is a good win because we showed some toughness and grit.

Absolutely agree. Godwin had 33% of those 3's on 4 of 5 shooting. Hope that's shades of things to come. Even if he never becomes a starter, if he can shoot like that and be a reliable zone buster he'll have earned his scholarship. I live for the day ODU has a real 3 point shooter.

RE: ODU @ Southern Miss
I remind everyone that in '06-'07 (at-large team), we lost to #300 JMU. In '10-'11 (arguably best team in ODU history), we lost to a pretty bad Delaware team and beat a Towson team that would finish winless 51-47 at home in a game that came down to FTs in the last minute.

Poor performances happen. We definitely need to play better, but we won the game.

We control our destiny to finish 2nd and could still win the conference with a little help. While we still have yet to get any great wins, our worst loss is @VCU.

Pretty good season so far relative to where we have been lately. I hope we take the next step; still have some time, which has been bought by pulling off wins despite laying a several eggs on the road (Rice, USM, FIU, Fairfield). Past teams laying eggs on the road have resulted in losses. Once the season is over, I'll give my evaluation of JJ, but right now we are in decent shape and have a chance to have an acceptable result, which will happen if shot fall at a better clip. Shoot 9-25 (34%) instead of 5-25 (20%) from 3 against MTSU and we are alone in 1st place. That is the difference right now.

Look, if we play terrible defense, foul trouble, hanes off shooting night, porter only gets 5, pinkney and vassor are on the court at the same time for part of the game. And STILL WIN! I'll take that in a heartbeat. Proud of Godwin for stepping up and Brandan for going 6-6 at the line.

Agreed, and they were shooting lights out in the first half. Things just were not going our way, but still pulled it out. Now on to la tech

Good point. I give Jones credit for going to the bench and calling Godwin's number, especially in the second half. Some games ( wins and losses) we have some stretches that we dont seem focused. We were heading for a loss tonight. It may be mental fatigue but our team sometimes needs a lift from not just our normal seven.

RE: ODU @ Southern Miss
FWIW (nothing), a bunch of posters flip when Razor posts. And some of the same posters, along with others, will say after a win "where's Razor's post lmao..?" So it's comments like that, which will never fix a problem you have with him. If you hate the poster so much or never want to read a word, just mute. It's not hard. You aren't missing anything it's the same post over and over. But don't taunt him too and wonder where he's at after win. You can't have it both ways. Complaining about posters is awfully silly and makes the thread crowded with nonsense (as you can see, I have just added to the nonsense).

Razor - where the eff are the posters saying this season is sunshine and rainbows? Road wins are important in this league. So far we have yet to drop the mind boggling 250+ road loss that usually occurs in the conference, and no team is safe from it. So yes, this win is just as important as the last one. Just because we are happy with a win doesn't mean we are signing Jeff to a 5 year extension. It's another notch in the belt to secure a top 4 seed in the tournament, which is the best we can hope for RIGHT NOW. Then we all know what the end goal is after that. But for now, we just need to win, and we did it. Mission accomplished.

These were my thoughts exactly. Ugly game for the most part but did what we had to do. Brandan at the line was huge in this game.
