Re Andre
It would take a lot to resurrect this season, and even if a significant improvement is possible, it will take a little time to get things into the new sync. However, abruptly losing a player who was averaging 29 minutes per game and taking more than twice as many shots as any other player on the team is going to have a profound effect - either positively or negatively.

IF things improve significantly between now and the end of the season, we will know that Andre was the problem. (Obviously, he was a problem of some sort.) If things do not get any better, then the Andre problem was merely a symptom, and the disease goes deeper.

Knowing what to do with a talented but troublesome player is one of the biggest problems that coaches have. My personal tolerance for people like that is very limited, and my inclination would be to say, "Take a hike," right from the start. However, my livelihood is not on the line. If it were, my tolerance might be a little greater.

It's ironic that our best player is always the one who is a "problem", going back many years. However, it is probably not a coincidence. Talented players may believe they are entitled and the team should revolve around them. And/or the only reason we got some of these kids, in the first place, is that we took a chance when other schools weren't willing to take the "risk".

Camron Reedus is averaging 16.9 minutes per game. He is shooting 39.7% from the arc and 85% from the line.

Cameron Corcoran is averaging 16.1 mpg. He is shooting 43.4% from the arc and 76% from the line.

Both those players are going to put up some points. Minutes sliding over to them will be a good investment.

Well, at least this makes the end of the season a little more interesting. Something to talk about.

You're logical makes a lot sense. It also makes me feel a lot better. So I will go with it.
I do think Andre's athleticism will be missed with regard to getting rebounds, blocking/altering shots, getting to loose balls, deflecting passes, etc. Still, if our shooting percentage is better, we may actually have a better chance of winning some games.

And in may cases it was exactly like that, and being the best player on their high school team, and probably having a high school coach that didn't have the balls to make his best player follow the rules. And especially in some small towns, and even more so when the kid may be the son of some town bigshot or school board member.

Most of the players who end up playing Division I basketball were the best player on their high school team.

Very true that they were without a doubt the best player on the team, but there is often a big difference the sports programs at small districts as opposed to the larger districts. Nothing like small town politics when winning or losing is the issue. Often a winning sports program is all the town can point to for community pride.

RE: Re Andre
Well, at least the departure of Andre has injected a little drama into what was otherwise a very undramatic season. I wish I didn't have to call games tonight so I could see how the new arrangement meshes.
