I would say that did them in. No hope for this season. That game may be the one that gets Tubby fired.

To be fair we had Tulane on the ropes too....and I think ECu has improved since Lebo left..... there have been games we at least looked competitive for a bit....Lets make it clear not saying we are even a D club....but were closer to D- than we were and at times they play C basketball. I wouldn't be surprised if we hurt someone else's feelings before this season is out.

This is fair and the point i was making in my initial post. They've been terrible as a whole this year which their metrics clearly indicate, but they've had stretches lately where they're playing better than i expected.

Congratulations ECU on a well deserved win.
Apparently this is a hard thing to say and just say.

ECU is terrible, but I have to admit that Michael Perry is a much, much better coach than Lebo was. It is a shame that Perry doesn't have the caliber of players that ECU had last year.

What? Dude had 2 timeouts with 6 secs left and didn't even try to draw up a play and you call that good coaching?

I wrote that Michael Perry is a much, much better coach than Lebo was. I didn't say anything about good coaching. I just said that he was better than Lebo.

Read what people actually wrote, not what you think that they wrote.

We can only hope

At the beginning of the season, I stated that Tubby should not be fired after his second year unless he had a Moe Iba type season. He has accomplished that meager goal, but I admit I am wavering. It is frustrating seeing the Tigers falter and hold little hope it will turn around in a meaningful way.

Sheessshhh man why do you care so much. I understand ECU fans can be annoying after win but you just seem desperate for something. We all know ECU is bad at basketball.

He's desperate alright.

It burns...doesn’t it? A year of non stop hype and what are you left with? Nothing but failed dreams of dominance...and sniping from the sidelines.

What are you talking about? We've gotten non-stop hype for most of the last decade.

I'm pretty happy to be 2nd in the conference right now, which is where we were picked.

Don't get mad that fans of other schools are noticing your desperate shtick.

We still talking about ECU?

At times they have been a little better than terrible.

RE: 2/3 AAC Basketball Games
Memphis played eh and still had a chance to win. Hell if they make free throws they win.

I also feel that Tubby's after game comments reinforce my assertion he is trying to change the culture. Get the players to play the way he wants. The team is pretty new 8 of 10 if I remember right. Martin is a beast though and has picked them up when they have been inconsistent or disjointed.

Good game by ECU who shot great from 3 an oddity for this year.

That was probably the end of their NIT hopes with out a big upset and winning what they should. It definitely puts more pressure on Tubby. If it's just a blip it won't be a nail in the coffin but another stumble this year and it could be the end.

Desperate at what? AP, Kenpom, and RPI Top 10? Sitting alone atop the AAC? Waiting for a Top 2-3 seed and watching the meltdown of the great WSU fan base?

Yea...call me desperate. Burn...

You had control of the entire game, but an 8 point win is far from dominating against an offensively offensive UCONN squad.

UC continues to be the team that just wins games in this conference. They don't do it by overwhelming anybody, they just grind out that W. I don't think anybody has seen Cincy display that "second level" of execution that's required to advance in the Dance. Maybe they're keeping it a secret.

Nothing wrong with winning games though regardless of how unspectacular they may be. A W, is a W, is a W...

Anybody ending a post with "burn" is either over the age of 60 or has the mental age of 13.

Or both.

Of course! When you’re from the MVC...that’s your only basis of comparison. It’s hard to comprehend real superior competition. You will soon enuf though.

If grinding out means a twenty point win then you are right.

Naw. I was meaning getting down 20 to Houston then grinding back, or winning at Temple via bottle chuck, playing even with ECU for over half a game, or trading baskets with an ailing UConn. You know... grinding them out. Not looking pretty or dominant in games you would expect a top 10 team to look dominant in.

But a W, is a W, is a W... at least in conference play. Grinding gets you nowhere in the Dance though... you're gonna have to be able to score; you're gonna need size and athleticism. You know... the things that Wichita State has (had) back when the preseason consensus was that they would reach the Final Four this year.

Congrats on the W's!
