Southern cities love their football and WWE...plus, weather in say Feb/March would be MUCH more pleasant in the South.

Sure, but I don't think this is going to build much of a brand for McMahon to make money off of. You could also throw a team in the Cotton Bowl too.

Attendance will be putrid. The league will be minor, minor league.

XFL coming back
A late winter/early spring league is a bad idea. What makes them think we'll embrace subpar football right after the CFB and NFL playoffs? They need to bank on Americans' late spring/summer hunger for football.

Cotton Bowl is a NFL market...I'd stay out of those

that's what he should expect for 100 million compared to the NFLs billions...

that said this allows them to capitalize on football mad southern fans who also love their wrestling/WWE...plus, no one want to play up North in February. (whereas it's 51 and sunny here in Memphis, that's decent football weather)

You're probably right but I went to every home game when we had that RFL team that year and the announced attendance was usually in the low 20K's - good enough for either number one (I think that was the rank), or number two ranking. Of course, the XFL concept is different (national vs regional rosters full of ex Bama and AU players like the RFL had) and we also didn't have college football at USA - the RFL was the only game in town for Mobilians at the time.

Just saying while it's not likely, I sure wouldn't rule a Mobile XFL team out. After all, there are more than a million people in the extended metro area.

the Mobile MSA is about 600k

I won't doubt you there but when it comes to successful professional (minor league) sports, they always start out in Mobile (i.e., BayBears and Mysticks come immediately to mind) and the leagues go "Hey, look at all the fans travelling here from Pensacola and Biloxi!" and they put competing teams in those two towns, which go on to destroy Mobile's attendance and support - HUNDREDS of the loyal fans immediately lost - and the Mobile team predictably folds.

This is why I used my made up term of "extended metro area". In a minor ("league") sort of way, Mobile is a lot like New Orleans and Atlanta, whose major league sports teams draw from Mobile, Biloxi metro, Pensacola, B'ham, Montgomery, etc.

If done correctly (i.e., a couple of USA and other in-state players, one or two Southern Miss and West FL players on a roster including a "Tim Tebow" at QB), an XFL team *could* potentially be successful in Mobile...unless and until they almost predictably put another team or teams in one or both of Biloxi and P'Cola like the other minor leagues have done. It's reasonably possible the RFL would have survived had every team had the crowd support of the Mobile team.
