I dont mind the look of the new chemistry building, I just hope it looks good from the ball park. An "Old Dominion" sign on the backside would be great for baseball games

Agreed, the renderings were much better. I suppose though that the bean-counters jumped in and determined what the outside would look like.

Next time I see the rendering, I'll try and take a picture. There is a copy in Kauffman Hall behind glass.

Last year I was interviewed as part of a branding project. I posted about it here and shared some stuff.
Got this e-mail today regarding it:

Dear Old Dominion Community:

Starting last summer, Old Dominion University undertook a new Branding Initiative. As part of this project, more than 200 in-person interviews were conducted with students, alumni, and faculty/staff--including Faculty Senate representatives, all deans, and faculty from every academic college--and an online survey was administered to students, alumni, faculty/staff and the Board of Visitors.

Using the feedback you provided, we partnered with our new agency, 160over90, to develop a brand strategy that will guide our marketing campaigns and materials. Giovanna M. Genard, assistant vice president of strategic communication and marketing, and representatives from 160over90 look forward to sharing what we heard from you, as well as the proposed brand strategy and creative concepts, and hearing your feedback during two Brand Initiative Open Forums next week.

These forums are open to all members of the ODU community and no reservations are needed:

Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hampton/Newport News Rooms, Webb University Center
Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. in the Chesapeake/Portsmouth/Virginia Beach Rooms, Webb University Center

I heard somewhere a while ago that they were talking about incorperating a building or monument into the logo like the new webb or clock tower. I hope they do that. Or incorperate and outline of the lion statue into the logo. Something/anything is better that what we have now.

And for the love of GOD get rid of idea fusion. Please let it be known that the world hates "Idea Fusion"

BTW, for those of you who didn't attend the game in person, ODU and Pepsi announced an extension last night through 2024. Pepsi also presented one of those big checks to ODU for $900k, that will be allocated to the foundations for athletic and academic scholarships.

I made that suggestion to them. Perhaps you are thinking of my comments? I have not heard anything about them actually doing it.

Love seeing the good things happening down on Colley. I hope that turns into "downtown ODU" or the "university district" something like that. Lame ODU village should just be a few places and offices. It has no character any more. Do the students even go to Mojos or Monarch Grill at all?
