That with the graduate transfer QB would give us about 19 or 20 not counting Grissom and Mackey if and when they become eligible. Frankly it appears EMU cannot resist adding yet another DL with 3 years to play and its a wise move stock piling talent in this area. Haney who already signed can play either OL or DL so the staff has some flexibility. Remember when we were constantly under the 85 scholie limit now it appears we don't have enough.
First choice would be Prince, could contribute right away, and be a matchup problem for anybody. Kainer could also be a good player, may need a redshirt year to develop, but he'd be ahead of alot of kids, coming from a high level Texas program.

Nice, let's get this kid. Hopefully he see's that our 3 starting WR's ALL just graduated. Obvious opportunity to start right away.
Man, if I were a JUCO player I'd look at, twice, the depth chart. As you indicate it doesn't get any better than this for a JUCO recruit.
We are lacking in terms of a tall WR.
That kid is only a few pounds away from being a TE. Possible H-back?

It'll be interesting to see what kids commit as PWOs. Pateri, the Saline kicker, did commit. Lincoln's Cam Thompson is still very interested. Would likely play slot in college.

PWO is a good deal for FB players.
If the player makes the 2-deep roster he gets a scholarship. If he doesn't at the end of his 2nd year, for example, he could transfer down and see what happens.
If a kid really thinks he was under-recruited and can play FBS ball, he gets the opportunity. PWO has more privileges than a straight walk-on.
To me, it is all about helping the kid find the 'right' level for him. It could be P5, G5, FCS, D-II, D-III, etc.

Do walk ons get cost of attendance and unlimited meals?

Here is some detail:
https://www.athleticscholarships.net/201...alk-on.htm
BTW, someone like Jaron Jackson did not count against the 25 limit as he had been around for a while. (here is the text):
"Finally, preferred walk-ons are in a better place to earn a scholarship but in football it normally does not happen until a player’s junior year. That’s because giving a walk-on a scholarship after his freshman year still uses one of the 25 initial scholarships for that year. A player has to be on the team for two full years before they can get a scholarship and not have it count like an incoming student."

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
BTW, this paragraph explains Ty Groce's situation at Northeastern and EMU:
"As part of a package of proposals designed to limit “oversigning” or roster management, any incoming student-athlete who receives financial aid for summer school counts as both an initial and overall scholarship for the following academic year. This was to prevent football coaches from signing athletes, bringing them to summer school, and then greyshirting them. Receiving financial aid for summer school triggers transfer status, so the player would not be able to transfer without penalty. But it also means incoming preferred walk-ons can no longer get their first summer paid for without turning them into scholarship players."
(emphasis mine).
So once an athlete starts summer school, accepts room and board, money for books, etc. and then leaves he is a transfer. Period. This is what I always assumed the case with Groce was...

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
I'm taking this Tweet from the 2019 recruiting thread and re-post here.
https://twitter.com/WillTemEMU/status/95...6100088833
I'm not sure what this means. It looks like maybe a phone log for the Rush visit last month???????
My guess they were confirming Rush's visit. Just a guess.

Don't think it's about rush. Seems to indicate a big recruit is visiting this weekend and coaches are excited.

True, but the fact that he hasn't signed (obviously) and visiting us means he is in play.

Not disputing he is play just pointing out he is legit 3 star recruit that would be great potential replacement for Tallman

I don't think EMU was even considered. EMU was only mentioned because of geography.
