The Sam's clubs being closed are due to those stores losing money. I get it, destroys the talking points.

The point I am making is that people are losing their jobs, not jobs being added.

Really shouldn't be cheering tax cuts going to employees as bonuses. Should be expecting that our money stay in our own hands.

Let me explain how business works. If you don't make money, you don't stay in business. In the case of these Sam's stores they were losing money and not making any. So instead of throwing money at a venture losing money they closed the store. It's called business not hand outs. Does it suck? Yep. Was it all the employees faults? No. Location plays a factor and so does customer service. I know of one in Jackson, MS that shut down because they weren't making money and items were being shoplifted at an alarming rate. So do you keep it open to keep jobs and continue to lose money or do you close? I don't the decisions are made spur of the moment.

Were you this picky whenever anyone was laid off from 2008-2016?

Of course *SOME* people are getting laid off and *SOME* people are getting hired. On balance our Unemployment is lower than it's been in some 17 years and unemployment among African Americans is literally as low as it's ever been.

Here in the twin cities one of our two closed...

From the few I looked up it appears Costco markets were the problem for Sam's.

The economy "mostly" is not a zero-sum game.

The Bernie's of the world don't get that lopsided wealth distribution in and of itself isn't a bad thing. What is a bad thing is when you get too many people who can't afford anything but subsistence. When that happens investment opportunities dry up.

If the Walmart employee makes more he is more likely to upgrade the apartment he rents to get in a better school district or move closer to work or get more space. He's more likely to upgrade the kid's wardrobe or upgrade his meals or take a vacation etc.

More people buying means better investment opportunities. We've seen companies and the truly wealthy holding a lot of cash of late because there haven't been good investment opportunities.

Raises do beat bonuses because bonuses are either going to pay for a splurge, reduce debt, or be held in savings. None of those are particularly good for the economy. It'd be better to see people make an extra $35 every two weeks than get a $1000 bonus because people feel safer about that money.

The biggest hit Walmart and Dollar General took wasn't the recession it was when SNAP was scaled back.

You want wages to rise but not so fast and so much that it triggers inflation. Right now consumer sentiment is such we could see wages rise a decent amount before inflation kicks in because it will take quite a bit to get past current price sensitivity.

The problem is that Costco is a way better place to shop than Sams Club. We have memberships to both because Sams is way closer and I use their gas.. But Costco has better selection of foods for your family.

Stop guys you're destroying the talking points by the left about a company that's giving raises and bonuses, but are also closing stores instead of saving those stores. I think that's the talking point. Don't reward the stores making money, keep the failing ones open.
