Marshall wins this game by 10-15 pts if Peneva was playing.

About the most half assed effort for my TOPS I've seen this season. a win is a win, but we play like that against UAB or MT next week we lose

GG ODU, tough D as usual, just too much length for the Herd to overcome.

Marshall 76
ODU 82
Final
The results might show an L, but I think Marshall showed ODU and C-USA that they can play with them. We can play with the top league teams even while we are down a couple important players. Our second half efforts are second to none. These MU players do not quit. Good game ODU, you guys played good tonight. See you in Huntington!

The Toppers were definitely flat but give Charlotte credit for making the game interesting by making 95% from the line. Neither shot very well but the 49ers refused to go away. Nice to have another road win in league play. Hopefully the effort will be better at home against UAB next Thursday or we could be in trouble. Anderson is going to be a good one looks like, the kid explodes towards the rim.

Agree... gotta give the 49ers a A for the effort tonight

There's no doubt that Marshall can play with anyone in this conference.
Apologies for whatever replay problems we inflicted upon you with the video feed. Mostly all you missed was ice-cold shooting by the Herd in the first half. I'd like to say that our defense caused it, but some of those missed shots looked pretty wide open.
You found your groove in the second half, and started to takei t to us -- much like WKU did on Thursday. But -- and this is the important point for Monarch fans -- we didn't panic. And we didn't get gassed. We (mostly) hit our foul shots when we needed to, and we came up at the end with some critical defensive stops.
You Marshall guys talk a lot about Jon Elmore and the missing Peneva. But the player you should be touting is C.J. Burks. That guy is a stud.

The reason the video feed has so many in-game replays is because they are using the video board feed. As one sitting in the arena, I'm glad they show the replays. Unless we get a separate and dedicated feed for the stream, those watching online are going to have to deal with it.

It happens everywhere, but its just bush league. Missing critical 3s, and possessions down the stretch to see a replay of a mid range jumpshot etc.

Burks is a real talent. And I know I'm not the only one, but I'm really happy Ryan Taylor has no more eligibility. That guy just wrecked us.

Just bad. Not anti-WKU or anti-Charlotte. Just bad. It seemed like they didn’t want to call any foul in the paint.

RE: 1/11 and 1/13 basketball action
ODU-Marshall featured a questionable ref as well. Dude was making some very odd calls against both teams, calling stuff from far away, and was even getting sideways looks from the other 2 refs. Seemed very green (new, not MU).
I think this was the first time I've seen Elmore in person. Was he just off tonight? He doesn't seem like your best player or an NBA talent, but what do I know. I don't mean that as an insult - I just don't see it. CJ Burks was for real though. Couldn't stop that guy and he was draining all his shots.
MU couldn't contain Porter, similar to WKU, and they figured out that they need to just stop the entry passes to him even if that means giving up the outside shots. The scouting report against ODU should always be force us to shoot outside. MU did a good job in the 2nd half and their team showed a lot of composure by not letting that deficit beat them mentally. Tough team.

The Louisiana Tech-UAB game was the most poorly officiated game I've seen this season (and that's saying a lot when it comes to life in C-USA). Like others have said, they didn't cheat either team, they were just bad.

ODU. I agree Burke is easily our best player, Elmore gets the hype bur Burks is solid in all areas of the game.

We are coming along. I think we will be our strongest around tournament time with everyone back healthy. Elmore has been off some this year, and I agree that he is not on NBA level. Burks has been an amazing offensive surprise this year. He plays a lot like Stevey Browning last year, but he so much quicker on defense. I think that is the major difference between last year and this year. We put more emphasis on on defense than last year.
Also, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but if you hated Taylor, you won't like who you will meet next year. Meet Iran Bennett, a 6'10" 300+ pound Shaq-est post man who can also handle the ball. He is gonna be fun to watch!
