On a roster of 14, State has 5 people left from last year they are 11-5
Thats like comparing apples to oranges.
It's not. Both rosters had significant turnover and lose a majority of the key contributors. One has a winning record, one doesn't(not even close)
UNCW has 3 players that played significant minutes in NCAA basketball prior to this season. Cacok, Talley, and Bryan(played 3 minutes against UVA). So that's 3 of their normal 8 man rotation.
NC State has 6 players of their 8 man rotation that have played significant minutes in NCAA basketball. 3 of which who have played/started for teams that made the Sweet 16. (A.Freeman, L. Freeman, and Abu) Dorn was Freshman POY in the CUSA, Yurtseven was a 5 star recruit. Beverly and Batts were 4 start recruits.
That is "comparing apples to oranges"
So you are counting NCAA minutes for State guys that plated elsewhere, but not counting minutes for UNCW guys that played elsewhere? Seems to be the definition of inconsistent

Keatts also had a bigger jump on recruiting. We'll see what happens in the recruiting for the next two years. McGrath adamantly said that he has the contacts to build this team. I certainly hope so.

No sir, that was 08's response. I quoted the wrong one, fixed. I agree with you about his connections.

No, I am simply counting " significant" playing time at any D-1 NCAA Basketball Program prior to this season. So with NC State, I'm counting L. Freeman, Abu, Yurtseven, Dorn(NCSU/UNCC), A. Freeman(Baylor), Hunt (NCAT). 6/8 with 2 4 star Freshman.
UNCW I am counting Cacok, Talley, and Bryan. Fornes played sparingly but had mostly DNPs in games that mattered. Yes, Ty Taylor(Wichita State) and Kalina(UT-Chattanooga) transferred from D-1 programs. Taylor played 154 minutes and Kalina played 14 minutes in their one season before transferring. I don't consider that " significant." So that's 3/8, with 2 2 star freshman.

Sure. You can't completely destroy the momentum of back-to-back NCAA Tournaments with a coaching change and 1 bad season. Especially with playing time up for grabs.
Now, if we were to string together 2-3 really bad seasons, THAT would impact recruiting negatively for sure.

Even with this slight difference, (we are splitting hairs), it doesn't make up for the huge difference in results IMO. And for the record, we both know ABU really didn't contributor jack last year for state

It's a what have you done for me lately world man, we both know this. If i'm up in the air or on the fence, the momentum doesn't matter as it was with a previous regime. But, I'm not a 17 year old.

Somehow Talley and Cacok were sold to come to a school with a decade of poor play. Bryce was too.
Trust the process.
If that were the case, any team that has had a bad season would theoretically never be good again. That's flawed logic and not realistic.

Bryce and Cacock were convinced to come to UNCW after Keatts had a dramatic turn around season. Talley was at Hargrave with the coach that was taking over.

Please. Keatts went after a Hargrave kid because he knows what the program produces. Talley didn't come play for Keatts purely because he was a former Hargrave coach. It was an instance of a coach using his connections, not a player having a direct link to the coach.
And I'm sure McGrath and Esleeck have recruiting locations in mind as well. Keatts didn't invent recruiting.

I think you are undervaluing big time the relationship that Jordan had with him. He was comfortable with him regardless of what had happened.

RE: CAA Conference Season
Not sure how we got to this topic, but Keatts had connections that not many do. It's one thing to have connections with a Hargrave. It's completely different to have been a very successful coach at Hargrave over a long period of time. That's a connection that can't be replicated. Additionally, Keatts while at Hargrave recruited HS kids to come to Hargrave, so he has those HS connections as well. And those players were the best of the best.
Right now, we have no idea how McGrath and his assistants will recruit in the future, so it's all speculation. IMO, he needs to recruit at a high level based on the style of play he wants. We will require some big men who will play at a high level since he only plays three guards. And he is going to have to produce them for the next season as Bryan leaves and Cacok is a senior. Replacing Cacok will be his biggest recruiting challenge.

Recurring topic them around here for sure, but post #31 (not naming names to protect the sensitive) seems to be the culprit. lol

Talley played at Fishburne Military Academy not Hargrave. I believe Keatts knew the coach at Fishburne and he recommended him to Keatts. Talley had an offer from Towson and that was
about it if I recall correctly.

Correct Sir, my apologies I glanced at an article and it was talking about Keatts at Hargraves and he at Fishburn had crossed paths. Clearly I didn’t read the whole thing earlier

Northeastern shot 71.4% percent for the game against William & Mary! That is unreal.

1 game separates 1st place and 7th place in the conference. WOW. Crazy to think UNCW is a couple of calls/bounces going their way from being 5-2. Team is playing hard and if they can somehow get in the top 6 and the 1st round bye in Charleston.... You never know, crazier things have happened it sports. WINGS UP

The key is to finish in the top 4. Having to win 4 games in 4 days is a bridge too far, but it seems that this year any of the 4 bye teams could bring their "A" games and get a little lucky and have a shot at the championship.

Top 6 get byes. But yes, 4 games in 4 days is too much to ask for most teams, especially a UNCW squad that basically only goes 7 deep.
