It really got going midway through the third. It's going to be a fun ending, though. UGA forgot to finish the game.

I'm hoping for 7 futile overtimes followed by a defensive score.

I went to pour a drink and it is over. And ESPN did not even bother repeating the winning touchdown. I waited for five more minutes and angrily turned off my TV.

You can easily find a replay of the winning TD on Twitter....

Did not set up DVR when I watch in real time. Also the point is that I expected the good stuff will happen in the third overtime so I left the living room for 20 second and missed the touchdown.

I don't think Hurts will transfer and he and Tua will battle for job next year.

I'm not sure either of those guys is an NFL QB, but they are pretty darn good college players. What I took away from this game was that Smart had a masterful game plan to neutralize Hurts, and then Saban made the great, and gutsy, adjustment at halftime to change the narrative.

Hurts will still beat most good teams, but he has obvious flaws that Georgia exploited.

I did find it humorous how desperate some posters have been trying to make this thread about UCF instead of two championship caliber teams playing well. Let it go, guys. Obsessing is not good for your health.

I don't think one half of play makes it a foregone conclusion that Tua is now the Bama QB and Hurts is gone. Think there will be competition for the job. Hurts, who moves through progressions slowly, was a bad fit against Georgia's speed and aggression but obviously he's been very effective against other teams.

Yes, the thread was invaded by AAC trolls trying to insert UCF in to the conversation at every turn. Fortunately that died down after a while.

As an Auburn guy I started the game slightly pulling for the Dawgs, but then when they started choking it away in the 4th quarter I must admit it stirred my heart. So then I was just hoping for one of them to have an epic fail and the other to back into it. The missed Bama field goal was my moment. Then with the sack that put Bama back to the 41 I again had that glimmer of joy thinking about Bammer pain. But then......the awesome broken coverage thrilled me again. War Damn Eagle, anyway!

I was hoping Parish (#14) would redeem himself with an INT somewhere, but he just looked lost all night. He did the facemask that put AL in FG range in regulation and then decided not to cover anyone on the TD. Whenever AL needed a play they passed at him and found someone open.

One thing I didn't hear mentioned is that Alabama was one second away from a threepeat. That's pretty amazing with the number of outstanding teams over the past few years.

IMO, the number of freshman making major contributions is a function of the fact that many of the players who would have been redshirt juniors in the past are now already in the NFL. Not much point in redshirting your freshmen anymore if they aren't going to use all their eligibility anyway. Put them on the field.

Congratulations on yet another National Championship, and the added joy of the schadenfreude for all of those who were griping about your inclusion. I know it's delicious!

Saban 6 titles = GOAT

Yeah. Hard to match Saban's titles. With all the talent and great coaching (and the refs keeping them in the game-that was a good punt block) they just made the plays at the end and Georgia didn't.

IIRC, i thought the blame for the final TD was on the safety, Sanders #24, it was his job to get over on that one.

In the first CFP, Ohio State's selection as the last team in was controversial. Bama's selection this year as the #4 seed as what was (erroneously) portrayed as the "third best team in the SEC" was also questioned. Maybe the selection committee isn't as dumb as everybody says.

Well, in fairness, ESPN prioritized those of us who didn't step away from overtime, where everyone knows the game can end on one play, to get a drink.

Showing a replay immediately would have meant missing live coverage of the player/coach/fan reactions to winning and losing the national title, so IMO the network properly stayed with that coverage Live for a few minutes.

We went to the SEC ccg and the new Atlanta stadium was the worst for getting into and out of I have ever been to.

President Trump's presence could gum up the process of entering the stadium as well.

It did. Secret Service pat downs were reported. Quite different than the quick purse check.
My wife said it was the same as normal, just slower. She got a ticket from a friend who couldn't make it. We went to the Rose Bowl, but $1800 or so was a bit steep even if it was down the street.

I know eventually they will replay it. But the easiest way to catch it is to DVR Sportscenter. Then I went to bed.
