I believe you violate the requirements that both you and Luckey set out:

1). NCAA HC experience. Washington is a career asst coach at Oakland and UofM.
I don't want a former WMU player to coach EMU.
Aren't we all glad the decision isn't yours to make none of the people you recommend have even have asst coaching experience at EMU level
Ummmm really? Ben Braun? Hmmm.

Guys, Murphy has a better conference record than Keno.

Not sure the EMU job should it become available is that attractive based on current salary level lack of attendance lack of budget support by regents ie we either like you or we starve your budget yes the Convoy is nice but also showing its age it will be interesting to see what the new ad does

Ben Braun's glory days are behind him? Says who? He is the exact same age as John Beilein, 6 years younger than coach K, and 2 years older than Tom Izzo.

RE: Mens basketball head coach candidates
This false narrative that Ben Braun is too old...too old to do what? Recruit? Here in the state of Michigan, the 3 top coaches; Beilein (born 1953), Izzo (born 1955), and Kampe (born 1955)...are all in their primes. The best of the bunch, Mr. Izzo has never recruited better and has a chance, a really good chance to win IT ALL.

I think we have a pretty smart AD now, I'm sure he'd love to have a coach the caliber of Ben Braun. The question is, does Ben want the job?

Bob,

1). Braun had a disastrous time at Rice having a terrible record (makes Murphy's look like hall of fame).

2). Braun hasn't even been a coach (as best I can tell) for 4 years.

I can't believe those who believe in looking back over 20 years. That isn't how the world works. It's about the future, not the past.

It is about connecting past greatness to the present...we call that tradition. EMU basketball has no connection to it's former glory. I love schools that embrace tradition: Chris Mullin coaching St. John's, Patrick Ewing coaching Georgetown, I liked when Clyde Drexler coached Houston. It doesn't always work but it sure beats Jim Boone or Rob Murphy. There is no excitement right now for EMU basketball and we have some really good players! There should be a buzz, Murphy's coaching is a buzzkill. Like a lot have said, Scott Wetherbee gets marketing, he will make a splash hire. He has to.

Just because they are EMU alums or a ghost from the past do not make qualified to be a dD1coach here or anywhere post their resumes as I have requested and you will see what I mean

putting boone and Murphy together is neither fair or objective Murphy has had some winning seasons here not so with boone and by the way Ramsey was as true EMU as you could get and he failed to turn the program around until we hired a P5 assistant in murphy

Go on campus, Bob, and ask, "Would you like to see Ben Braun coach MBB?"

Lot of blank stares. Maybe, some smart alec would say, "My dad told me about him but I was in diapers when he last coached here... Lol."

Try selling Ben Braun to a millennial??? And give away from CD players?

John Wooden couldn't win at Rice. Completely irrelevant.

Bob, I hope you win the lottery, retire, and have free time to research before you post. A lot of arguments do have a factual basis which can be looked up.

Of the HCs at Rice that last 1/4 century plus, Ben easily had the worst record.

Actually the others won about 45 - 47% of their games. Ben came in deal last at 33%. He won 22% of his conference games (C-USA).

Rice: 63–128 (.330) 21–75 (.219)

Here is Ben's successor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Rhoades

Rice: 47–52 (.475) 26–28 (.481)

And Mike Rhoades got a PROMOTION to HC at VCU.

I was a big Ben Braun fan but time has passed him by. As someone who retired last week said, you need to know when it is time...

BTW, someone (Bob?) mentioned Patrick Ewing. But Ewing coached as an assistant in the NBA for 15 years.

Will he be able to recruit, etc.? TBD.
