Jared, I mean no personal disrespect, but that kind of talk is akin to the guy who thinks he's in a relationship because he has a porn site membership and a bottle of lotion.
Not sure I understand the correlation or analogy as it pertains to this situation.

What are you saying? My relationship with Asa Akira isn’t valid?
It may be personally satisfying, but really doesn't mean anything.

As far as the correlation, UCF can claim the national championship if it likes, even if no one else acknowledges the claim's validity. Like the fantasy driven self-gratifying person, they may get satisfaction from the activity, but it really doesn't having any meaning to anyone else.
Should Tulane, Auburn, etc. be able to claim the national championship in the years they were undefeated but not crowned champion? If you agree that they should, then maybe you might agree with me that any format to name a national champion in the highest level of college football would always have enough flaws that there would be someone with a claim to unjust exclusion. Therefore, the playoffs are unnecessary and we should go back to the various news outlets naming their own.

As much as I love football I can't and won't force myself and waste my precious time in watching something that isn't real... I'm saddened for what this great sport has come down to. Totally rigged.
I'm not at all saying that the playoffs out to be increased to upward number of teams but something clean definitely needs to be injected.
No not me, I won't watch.

Auburn did claim a national championship in 2004, it was on the cover of SI and they had rings made for it.

I have said it before, I don't care if UCF claims the title or not. It doesn't change anything and nobody will care.

Well, I admit that I didn't watch the Golden Globes, to protest the rigged system that systematically excluded B-Movies from its list of nominees. I'm not saying they would have won, but they should all have a path to win the big prize.

The Academy Awards / La La Land, it says it all. It is quite possible that La La Land was the worst movie I've ever seen, and I really think Emma Stone is cute in an alien/human hybrid kind of way. Nothing ever smacked of insider connections like the nomination of this movie. Obviously the Academy was propping up the interest in a turkey.
To me the Golden Globes are exactly the same only with more of an international flavor.
But as I've gotten older Ken I look back on my life and realize that many who won awards whether in business, or some other genre, had connections which weren't as obvious at the time, and their buddies were propping them up so they could be positioned where they could return the favors.
The real heroes in my life have been quiet people who led great lives, missed the headlines, but who have a long line of appreciative folks, besides their family, at their funerals. I remember most fondly those whose instruction impacted my life positively whether at the time I was wise enough to see their truth or not. And to this day I struggle to forgive anyone that tries to rig or game systems for personal advantage.

Yes I will watch. If it isn't good for the sport, don't blame the SEC. It isn't their fault the rest couldn't make a compelling enough argument.

Cant argue with that. And LaLa Land was awful. I always thought you had to have catchy songs to make a musical.

It was a great game with a lot of excitement. I'm not surprised the ratings were excellent.
Unfortunately, this board has a habit of becoming a G5 echo chamber and the connection with reality can get lost.

It was a great game with the closest matched final 4 in the four years of the playoff. Clemson didn't look good against Alabama, but really any of the four could have won it. The other two games went to OT.

You may want to check the other bowls viewership before making subjective statements.
The other bowls saw an average of 12% increase in ratings. That makes that 9% increase in the Championship not so spectacular in my book.

The National Championship is more popular to begin with.

The other CFP games were played on New Year's Eve last year so that can account for the bump this year. But the title game from this year to last is apples to apples.

I did not watch it. I heard the results on the radio Tuesday and said "really? I thought it was next weekend!"
