Impressive list to be on. One thing that jumps out is the revenue gap between us and the haves. I was surprised to see such as huge gap between us and NDSU.
Well, did you notice the crowd in the background at the North Dakota State game? That place was packed. Also, that NDSU team ain't Grambling, that's for sure. Neither is Wisconsin-Whitewater

well that isn't their stadium. they play in the Fargodome, bc it only gets up to -13 in August in North Dakota. (Plus their in whites, so they are away, think this is the Iowa game)
scrolls down, sees Notre Dame.... nope, this list is bush league. looks up author, Iowa grad. still though this is a pretty thorough and complete list.

except this comment:
One thing to know: North Dakota State would probably be a very good team in FBS. If they played in a bigger television market, the Big Ten or Big 12 may have swallowed them up by now. Instead, they have dominated FCS, winning five of the last six championships.

Thats an impressive list to be part of. Its even more impressive when you add in the state of Illinois and its budget. Also, adding in the university has a drastically declining enrollment, makes it pretty damn amazing. What always baffles me about our fan base is the lack of enthusiasm and support it gives to NIU Football. Put this program just about anywhere in the country and the stadium would be packed.

I know this won't happen, but I have always felt attendance would rise significantly if we had a domed stadium. People don't like to sit outdoors in bad weather. Chances around here are good that the gameday weather will be crappy: rain, wind, cold, snow. Will the increase in attendance offset the cost of the dome? No, but I can dream anyway.

I'm sure it won't happen but I dont think it's as far fetched as you think. The Unidome cost 7.5 million to build which apparently is 32+ million is today's money. That's not bad when considering the cost of our master plan. The Fargodome cost 48 million which is over 80 million in today's dollars. Still not outrageous but out of our reach at this point.

A small dome like Uni or Kibbie would be great! Especially if you could keep Brigham Field for nice weather games. That's a luxury for schools with tons of cash, not NIU. The problem with the small dome is dropping the capacity below the FBS requirement of 20,000. But since espn is mostly responsible for the maction debacle, get them to pay for half of it...call it the espn maction dome and skirt the 20k rule. Maction games, in a dome or outside, aren't drawing more than 12-15k anyway. How fun would a packed dome of 15k Huskie fans in December when its 0 degrees outside? It would be like a mini vacation.

I was in the dump known as the Kibbie Dome when the Huskies played there in 2007. Not something we'd want for NIU.

Although the Kibbie Dome was pretty old - in any case it would need to be a little bigger and better. Not sure what it would cost for a 24K-capacity dome. We can always dream I guess......

Pretty much everything created in the 70s was a dump. Cars, homes, clothes. Only thing they got right was movies and music.

I don’t know why we are talking about domes right now, but watching a football game in a dome is a lame experience. Every time I’m in one for a football game (probably 6/7 times) I felt the game lacked something and environment. Blah.....

The Huskies look like a dominant team when you disregard their last two years.
