It appears, neither should you.
If you really want to compare Cuse and Carolina, I'm happy to do so. Please feel free to send me a DM. If you think that you're sticking it to me after Carolina lost a 1 point game in Tallahassee in January, I can only laugh at you.
Carolina is coming off of back-to-back Final Four runs, and they are the defending National Champions. They are not legit contenders this year, but I NEVER, repeat NEVER, suggested they were. Their chances of another run beyond the first round THIS YEAR are exponentially higher than Clemson, and with Zion next year, they would be legit contenders while Clemson would not be.
So, a Cuse team that was lead to a title by Melo proved that one player CAN make a difference. Clemson with it's current roster + Zion could certainly make a run to think otherwise is foolish. Guys like Durant, Carried Texas, Melo, Cuse etc. It happens.
In no way am i comparing Cuse to Carolina. Obviously UNC wins that comparison, although many of the recent titles would have the ** next to them.
And for the record, the loss at FSU isn't embarrassing, losing to Wofford at home, now THAT's embarrassing.
Clemson has NO shot at a NCAA title next year. NONE! Carolina football has more tradition than Clemson basketball. You can't quantify the pull that Zion's heartstrings have to Clemson. He may choose Clemson, but if he does, he'll do so at the expense of playing for a NCAA run in March.
Talk all of the nonsense you want about Carolina, I don't care. I'm not here to convince you to like Carolina.

As quiet as it's been around here lately from all the forum heavyweights, it's ALMOST nice to see you two going back and forth. ALMOST.
Problem, is it's moved from a Brownell/Keatts to Clemson/NC State to Clemson recruiting to Clemson/UNC conversation in which the majority of our posters have little to no interest in.
For the sake the rest of others and our sacred UNCW forum... I'm moving this thread to the Smack forum (Droppings).
Also, as a verbal warning to any and all... attempts to troll just to troll are NOT tolerated. That means don't do it here. That's WHY I requested we have a smack forum (Droppings). You can do that THERE. Not HERE. Future trollings will be met with applicable repercussions.

We still gotta follow the rules. For example, I can't punish outsiders for doing it if I let you all slide.

The shame and embarrassment of academic fraud, including coaches doing coursework, players playing after failing drug tests and boosters giving cash to basketball players for "volunteer work" won't soon be forgotten.

"UNC, Gonzaga to begin home-and-home series in Chapel Hill in 18-19."
Say what you want about Carolina and Roy, but they schedule tough (true) road games every year. This home-and-home with the Zags will be really fun to watch.

I think they're still drinking champagne in CH.
Compliments of the NCAA?
I think the NCAA only provides the confetti.
the shredding of all the evidence they had so the FBI won't see it?
Things that are completely made up for $500, Alex.
Is Cuse still on probation?

As someone who does not pull for Carolina and grew up actively rooting against them, I respect the way that Roy is not afraid to schedule quality true road games. Coach K on the other hand....not so much.
Carolina doesn't always have the best or prettiest record in recent seasons but they always seem to play their best basketball in the ACC and NCAA Tournaments. Honestly that is my hope with McGrath this season and beyond!

yes for a lot less than UNC did and got nothing. You are a smart dude, you can't really think that nothing happened there. It's pretty ridiculous that other schools including Cuse got hammered for far less egregious stuff.

"Far worse" is subjective, no? Carolina was properly put on probation by SACS. The NCAA never had a case for extra benefits to student athletes, but they "investigated" for seven years. They knew all along that they didn't have a case; there was precedent at Auburn and Michigan.
What happened in the African and Afro-American Studies Dept at UNC was an embarrassment and disappointing. But it wasn't an NCAA violation.
But, to my original point, you mentioned the FBI investigation which has absolutely nothing to do with Carolina.

Not yet. I've heard chirping they were getting involved. Having a department with the sole purpose of having junk classes to pass student athletes absolutely is an NCAA violation. UNC beat the system by allowing a few random non student athletes into the classes. Basically, they set the blueprint for the rest of the NCAA on how to cheat and get away with it. If UNC wasn't the NCAA's cash cow, they would have found a way to nail them just like they have done with many other with much less evidence.

FBI investigations are not the same as NCAA investigations. There isn't "chirping", there is slinging mud, hoping something sticks.
29% of the class participants were athletes. 29%! If that is "allowing a few random non student athletes" then you're right. If the NCAA wanted to let Carolina off because they're a cash cow, they wouldn't have dragged the investigation on for 7 years. As I said, Auburn and Michigan had similar cases, and in both instances the NCAA quickly (and properly) ruled that class curricula wasn't their jurisdiction.
What happened was wrong, but it wasn't an NCAA violation.

I saw on one of my social media feeds that Carolina got a "congratulations" from barstool sports for scoring 69 points. I lol'd.
Carolina is gonna struggle and have ups and downs this year. Nobody is surprised by this. Doesn't negate the fact they won a natty last year though.
