2 new Democrats in the Senate today
Doug Jones and Tina Smith get sworn in today. Bye bye Roy Moore and Al Franken (well Moore was never in DC to begin with I suppose but it's more fun to pick on him than Luther Strange).

51-49 Republican vs Democrats in the Senate. It's still going to be tough for Democrats to get the majority based on the elections coming up in 2018 but it's not impossible either. All we need is a couple more juicy nuggets of info to use against certain candidates.

Now excuse me while I check into Mitt Romney's doings in the 1970's.....

RE: 2 new Democrats in the Senate today
The D's don't necessarily need the senate if they flip the house. Which again, almost always happens in the first mid-term of a new president.

If you took away the R and D description wouldn't those two be an improvement over the alternative? Sad we are stuck in this two party malaise where not one person can vote against their political affiliation so the rest of us continue to get screwed.

RE: 2 new Democrats in the Senate today
FWIW, Tina Smith from MN is going to be less impactful in the Senate than many unelected senior staffers. She's a warm body in a cold seat who won't do anything stupid or have any influence. So, yes, she is a better Democrat for conservative Minnesotans than Cocaine Boobs McGraben.

However, she will be a perfect 100% Democrat backbench voter.

I agree with her a ton on the issues but she is one of the more thoroughly unlikable candidates I can think of. Hopefully Tom Emmer can be convinced to run.

Amen on her non-likability.

I don't think Lewis has done enough just yet. Maybe by 2020 if the GOP does not win the special election this year.

I also think Emmer does better state wide than Lewis, he nearly beat Dayton in the governors race and has more cache around than Lewis who is still better known as a firebrand radio host than a serious legislator.

Another fantastic example of the left's objectifying and sexual intimidation of women.

Congrats, considering your plethora of attempts to shame others and pretend you walk the high road.

She should have a contest with Doug Nancy-Jones. No doubt he could take a bigger one

Luther Strange would have beaten Doug Jones. Only a highly controversial candidate who should have never been a viable option from the get go torpedoed the GOP in Alabama.

Meh.

I'll take a short time dim in the long game. Once he starts marching in lockstep with Schumer & Co he'll ensure that it'll be decades before a dim wins a Senate race in Bama again.

Moore would have won if the Gloria Alred money train hadn't come to Alabama. Jones is an idiot and a short timer.

RE: 2 new Democrats in the Senate today
We could only be so lucky as for the MN GOP to nominate 'crazy eyes' for a Senate seat. Would immediately take a seat off the table.

Who will be the next Roy Moore (or Todd Akin, Mourdant, the ex-witch in Delaware, etc.)?

Chemtrail Kelli Ward?
Confederate Chris McDaniel?
Racist Joe Arpaio?

Place your bets....

By the way, fresh from her collapse in Nevada's Senate race a while back, Sherron Angle is running for a Congressional seat.
