Was the decision to move Sutton Smith to DE Carey's idea or the idea of another coach? Sutton Smith was initially moved to LB before DE. Would Carey have made Turner the feature back, despite Novak stating that he could learn to pass block in the NFL? Would Novak, Kill or Doeren have started Graham over Maddie, let alone move our best QB at the time (Maddie) to WR, and would any of those coaches have started Graham against BC this year? The what if game could go on forever. One good personnel decision does not make a coach good, bad or in the middle.

Interesting stat, the top three BiG 10 teams Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State had 3 QBs (Barrett, Hornibrook and McSorley) that were play makers, and critical to their respective team’s success. The three combined for 39 interceptions. The common thread...each rewarded their coach’s confidence and faith by giving them incredibly successful seasons including bowl victories.

Another poster mentioned it, I think a few 3 and outs is worse than a turnover, depending where it happens.

I also think that if you are going to be ultraconservative, at least try to get yourself in field goal range instead of trying to throw a bomb with a QB that can't hit them.

Kent St. Game: The first 2 series Santa is at QB and we have two 3 and outs; 3rd series: TD with Childers at QB; 4th series: Santa's pass is intercepted. If Santa's pass was a TD instead of intercepted (and it certainly could have been) what happens the rest of that game, is Santa the starter the next game?

That is not really a fair comparison either because Santa only threw 97 passes, had he thrown 1,000 his interception rate would have been different. Could have been higher or lower (sadly we will never know which) but I would bet lower as he had more reps and grew into the role as a starter.
