AAC expansion candidates?
Since we are stuck in purgatory for at least 5 years who would you like for AAC expansion?

My FB only favorites would be East - Army West - BYU

Both are indy.

The one issue with Army is the Navy game. Solution:

1. They never play a REGULAR conference game.
2. If Army is the East Champ and Navy the West Champ the regularly scheduled Army-Navy year end also would be the AAC Championship Game.

In the East UMass could be considered as an all sport.

Other possible's would involve raiding MW or CUSA:

Would love Boise.

Ah yes, another conference realignment thread.

Hard pass on the UMass. How about this:

Welcome to the party
BYU (football only)
Army (football only)
Colorado State

Gone like a fart in the wind
ECU
Tulsa
Tulane

Once Cincinnati rejoins the P5, replace us with Marshall, OU, or Toledo.

I don't think adding programs would be wise without first culling the unworthy.

The tops would be BYU, Army, and Boise, but I think there are too may logistical problems to make any of them happen.

Wouldnt mind cutting out ECU and maybe Tulsa.

More realistic adds would be WKU and Marshall. Not sure we are getting a ton of value added as far a TV viewership and money, but their FB and BB teams are always competitive.

Another wildcard team, Arkansas State.

I am fine keeping Tulane. They have historically been competetive somewhat, but do bring alot of prestige as an Acedemic institution. ECU and Tulsa can bite the dust.

TV matters and WKU and Marshall add little. Arkansas State adds nothing.

National cache would come from Boise, Army, BYU.

Agree with Doss. If there is going to be any adds, it will only be teams that increase revenue.

Mountain Western time zone is crazy, won't happen. Maybe Army and Rice. Rice was awful this year.

Oberlin (last Ohio team to beat O$U.)

Mount Union (lots of national championships)

Grand Valley State (BK national championship)

West Liberty University (dad's alma mater, national NAIA champs in football, national runner up in D-II hoops)

Easy road trips. TV interest is moot since only local fans care about AAC. Built in buy games for Fick and Mick. Won't hurt or help rankings - just like Wichita.

After the way we finished the season, any talk by UC fans of "culling the unworthy" should be reserved for a later time.

We got Tubervilled. You think Texas should be kicked out of the Big 12 for a few terrible years? We're arguably the biggest overall sports and academics brand in the AAC. There's a reason we are considered a/the top P5 expansion candidate in the G5.

Additionally, we have shown a commitment to our athletics that ECU, Tulsa, and Tulane just haven't. Throwing us in with them due to a few years in 1 sport is silly... Come on, now. 04-cheers

I am greatly in favor of AAC expansion as soon as we worm our way into a better conference ourselves.

All I'm saying is that it sounds tone deaf to talk about kicking out other schools from the conference when our record is as bad or worse as theirs. We're in no position to look down our noses at anyone right about now.

I don't think we're disagreeing, as much as looking at conference value in different ways. If our value were restricted to football performance, I would agree with you.
