RE: Coaching Candidates
Allen Moff just tweeted that the new coach will be in place next week. Also regarding National Signing Day, next week is just the early signing period. NSD is still in February.

What a debacle. From beginning to end. And the only "media" breaking any kind of news is a rumor mill web site.

RE: Coaching Candidates
Is football scoop a source that should be trusted? Seems like Canton and Record Courier both disputed that the SDS coach was offered. Maybe the 15 coaches that turned this down are pie in the sky candidates that we took a swing on.

Not sure about the validity of their sources or “scoops”, but I would guess they most certainly are fed information or misinformation for ulterior reasons. And, based on what I’ve seen on that site, they mighr but not be aware they are being used in that manner.

RE: Coaching Candidates
Sean Lewis... an interesting choice. If you read the article, he doesn't seem to have accomplished anything or really lead anything. At Syracuse he was Co-Offensive Coordinator. How much control or how much did he lead the offensive? In the article they say he is a rising star, with the example: "Lewis was a big advocate for encouraging the video staff here to produce more creative video content." That seems like a very weak example. The highlight of 2 yrs at Syracuse was adjusting the video content?
However, he has be around the midwest and the MAC for a significant portion of his coaching career. Additionally, the offenses he was involved with did put up record numbers. Again, it's an interesting choice and he's a PJ Fleck type guy, could make the football program atleast exciting.

Yes and early signings are becoming critical. And a month behind the 8 ball for febuary. Point is no head coach damages recruiting.

RE: Coaching Candidates
One of the Cleveland news shows last night did a story about KSU's lousy record the past several years and how, supposedly, fifteen have turned down the job. They even shows the university ad's on some website, implying that they are so desperate that they placed an ad on that desperation site. maybe the time has come to do something that will make the program the talk of the nation - like hiring the first woman (I'm assuming no woman has ever been the head coach at an FBS school before) or an openly gay man. Or Lou Holtz! Just kidding, maybe.

Sean Lewis as noted by othershas NO head coaching/run a program experience. I think Paul Haynes was Co-Defensive Coordinator at OSU befeore coming to Kent... and that turned into 14-45...just sayin....

footballscoop.com is considered very reliable-reputable in the coaching profession.

Unless we get Nick Saban or Bill Belichek we won’t know if we picked the right person until about December of 2019. Might as well relax and see what happens.

On the surface, I can support this selection. I like it better than taking a D-II or D-III head coach. The real key is going to rest with the assistant coaches hired. I have a feeling that the recruiting budget has been an issue for the lack of interest, if the stories are true.

I would rather have a coach with experience...winning experience, D2 or D3, they have ran a program. There has to be a coach out there that would say I'm making 100K if that at D3 and I get offered 400K per year for 5 years? I'll take it and IF it didn't work...hell I made a nice piece of change and had the D1 experience and back to D2 or D3
BUT the real problem is the administration, they are not really committed and they need to be exposed...they already said the are putting $$$ into basketball, and the 10 year play to revitalize Kent campus? I've seen the campus as of lately and it is pretty damn cool looking compared to when I was there in the early 90's...BUT you haven't touched DIX stadium since the 90's?!?!?! Oh and the artlice talks about how the will have this and that BUT again, football is in 10 more year if that...
Great school, but just can't get the football program going cause they are not committed, point blank...

I hoped we would focus on someone with HC experience- but if the AD is set on a OC type from another FBS program- I guess I would rather have a younger Sean Lewis tupe than a Ed Warriner "older OC/DC" type... let's just get something done!!

The way I read the article was renovations to DIX Stadium could be done at any time in that 10 years. So instead of putting a phase number to it they can do the football improvements at any time. Also the last upgrades were done in 2007 so ten years ago. At that time Kent was the first university to have a HD videoboard.

The problem is ... MAC Center and Dix (not to mention bb practice facility) and any number of other things stand side by side in one line, not one behind the other at Kent State.
If BB is your No. 1 sport, what does it say when you address FB before that ... if the only way to improve FB is to add $$$ immediately, what does that say for BB being the No. 1 sport.
Not picking a side, just looking at the problem. ... Kent's BB opportunity came in 2002, and Administration (BOT) made no significant step forward .... Kent's FB opportunity came in 2012, and Administration (BOT) made no significant step forward. ...
At some point, ... DO SOMETHING!!!

I agree but I think the reason they talk about everything is they have money for nothing. The talk keeps the wolves from attacking. At least for awhile.
