RE: Rank the AAC schools the BIG XII would want
It's funny that "city school" is seen as a bad thing as essentially all of the money, culture, jobs, leisure activities, business, etc are in cities. To me, "rural school" sounds like hell - people have been leave rural areas for over 100 years to move to cities. Rural areas are full of poverty and ignorance. No professional sports team would dream of being in Iowa City, West Lafayette, Urbana, Athens, etc.

Actually, both cities & rural schools are good. I actually prefer going to a rural school over a city school because it’s easier to get to classes & the campus has a “life” to it.

Not all “city”schools are like that. Cincinnati, for example, is located in a neighborhood of the city- not downtown. The campus is in an intimate setting and classes are easy to get too.

All depends on whether you want programs to go All In with all of their athletic teams or just football
If just football
BYU
San Diego State- Southern California has the population of Texas and with the Chargers leaving San Diego, the Aztecs will see an increase in their attendance. Southern California also has tons of talent for other Big 12 programs to recruit (Kansas, Iowa St)
All Sports
UCF
CSU
Cinncinnati
UCONN

Rank the AAC schools the BIG XII would want
With political pull in Texas Houston would jump up front. Absent that...
Group A (Best long term new markets, recruiting, without going dramatically northeast): Florida twins and Cincinnati
Group B (Offers some key valuable parts but has some key drawbacks): Memphis, UConn, Tulane, ECU
Group C (Either overlapping footprint or a combo of distance and tv marketability concerns)
SMU, UH, Tulsa, Temple
As for Navy, the Big 12 likely wouldn't want a FB-only team but Navy is marketable enough. There was a thought at one point of adding Air Force in 2010 but I would be pretty surprised.

The USAFA was a finalist last round as well. They were even brought up as a possible Pac 10 expansion candidate in the early 90’s.

If I'm the XII and I'm ranking my top 10 from the AAC, MWC, BYU, and Army, these would be my rankings. I would consider football strength, basketball strength, academics, geography, market, and, of course, money.
1. Cincinnati
2. Connecticut
3. South Florida
4. BYU
5. Colorado St
6. Central Florida
7. Houston
8. Memphis
9. Temple
10. Tulane

Curious why you would rank USF ahead of BYU, and also why you would rank Colorado St ahead of UCF?
