i like the idea of of rebranding as “California A&M”...or moreover
"California Academy of Arts & Media"...

the more traditional role of the Agricultural and Mechanical University of California falls to UC Davis...it was known as University Farm (1905–1922)...Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture (1922–1959)...In 1959, the campus was declared by the Regents of the University of California as the seventh general campus in the University of California system.

Source from WAC office. The WAC was not interested at the time. Didn't put it for trolling purposes. I can't find article either although I remember reading that about a year ago on another message board so if anything someone else heard the rumor too, not just me.

IIRC, that was the pre for-profit days.

That being said, I'm not that bothered by their model personally, but some conferences are/may be.

RE: Academy of Art
It's not the for profit that is objectionable about Art U (as they like to be called), it's their miserable record, and unsuitability as an institution. This is a school that has a higher admission rate than ANY community college, 100%. They do not even bother with things like SAT, ACT or GPA.

This is not to say there are not pockets of teaching and learning, but it's not Julliard West Coast.

They have no athletic facilities of their own. Their teams play in rented facilities around the city (Their "where we play" section of the website is titled "Discover the City"). Dilapidated Kezar Stadium, Mission College and Beach Chalet for soccer (whomever they can rent that day), Kezar Pavillion for Volleyball, Laney College for Baseball, Mission Blue for Softball, Bay Tennis Club, Presidio for Golf.

On the one hand I think it's smart to use existing facilities rather than waste money on building them, but on the other hand they are competing with the YMCA and various youth groups for rental time. So what exactly would a "campus" visit of athletics entail?

Lastly this is a troll thread by Dancing Boy, and there is nothing anywhere of such a move or interest. It shows the level of desperation of WAC fans that it is even considered.
